Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Nice Soul! My only problem with the one I am working on is trying to find a hat pin that has a heavy enough gauge to hold the resin cast item. Most of the ones out there are too thin and bend.

Mine seem to hold up well, even in permastone it's not too heavy.

I've used industrial sized upholstery needles in the past. They are super rigid. You might give them a try!

I think for my next attempt I'm going to try and create a hollow one and gold leaf it. How cool would it be if it actually made a whistle sound?!

I'm too new to post to the Junk Yard-just wondering if you ever received the tea pot that was listed there, and if so, if you would recommend it? :)

Just registered to thank all of you for this marvelous thread. <3
I'm starting to work on Mad Hatter costume for my fiance (and hopefully Red Queen for myself if I have time and interest after MH)

Maybe I will get myself post some results when I get something done.

And thank you, thank you, thank you. I can't thank you enough for all this precious info I have gathered from this thread.

Thanks for the E6000 recommendation!
I bought parts for my Um shoes yesterday, and in the check out line at JoAnns there was the E6000 waiting for me!

Those who have used this product before-
Is it better to apply it in small bits via a toothpick or something, or directly to the fabric from the tube?

Any other user knowledge to share before I start?

Found my interference paint last night and I think it will work well for the daisies. Will have to find a use for the glitter paint elsewhere I guess. *pout* ;)

The top half-ish is painted with interference:

Also stopped by a very high end fabric store to see if they happened to have any metallic lace that would work for the decoration on the corset part. I know I am not going top find the same exact lace as in the movie so I resigned to finding something that works and satisfied my sparklie lust.

Of course I found something I LOVE at the expensive place. Of course it's over $250 PER YARD. :cry

(It is a little less gold in person; pic was taken with a camera phone)

Of course I'm probably still going to get some. ;) I only need about 16 inches but that still over $100. BUT IT WILL LOOK SO PUUUURTY! LOL!

I wish I had a cheaper hobby. Or tastes. ;)

I just received the final hand piece for my Mad Hatter, really the final main seen costume piece now I can start taking pics.

The Pin cushion ring from Fatal5051. It is fierce and huge-ish! and came with many pins :) the ring has been practical so far while fixing the hem of my trousers. Very soon my dear children you shall all remember this as the day that you almost caught-Captain..oh wait..wrong character :p *que split personalities*

Thanks for the welcomes Soulinertia. =3

Post delivered our clover ring today. You can still get your hands on these in Finland. =D

I also collected some useful items: 5 wooden spools (still need a lot more and smaller ones), faux suede to use in battle vest, little glass botle to carry pishsalver in, antique scrissors and beautiful bobbin lace I'll use in battle shirt if I don't find thinner lace that satisfy me. My fiance also has a pocketwatch which will be perfect.

Yay. Shopping tomorrow.

BEHOLD, the Tonner Mad Hatter Doll:

tonner.jpg

...thats it?

For a company that prides themselves on attention to detail, I think the costume is lacking...BIGTIME. I dont really like the head or hair either...The face seems REALLY square and the hair is like an orange afro. :( Actually, I don't like it at all....I'd buy the Mattel Barbie over this.

I'm so disappointed! Boooooo. I still want the WQ one though...so gorgeous!

Well maybe the likeness of the Tonner MH figure was not approved by JD so they had to make it look completely different. Actors get a portion of the revenue generated by the figures for the use of their "likeness" in an action figure, doll, or high end collectible.

I like the Barbie MH version much better! Which I got for my Un-birthday two weeks ago!!:cry
