Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

hmmm nope didn't work.....is the only way to upload a photo on here through a website like photobucket? Not from your computer picture files?

UM! Verra nice-a!:eek

Was that taken at Disneyland? If yes what day did you go to Mickey's T or T? :confused

We did go to Mickey's T or T and we went on Halloween which was UH-Mazing....soooo much fun. We actually got a picture with a Jack Sparrow there that I haven't seen on here I don't think but he was really great.

That is too bad we missed you guys. October 29th was the Unofficial Alice In Wonderland Tea Party at Disneyland Mickey's T or T! Not many of us showed up in costume even though many said they were coming!

I know!! I really wanted to do that too but we had to choose one day. And our friends came with us cuz we really wanted to celebrate halloween night. Lol my poor fiance had 3 straight days of being the mad hatter so that whole weekend was really busy for us. But now that I know about all these forums etc I'll keep an eye out for other days like this or gatherings!!

Mad Alice, those are beautiul dresses! :D

Charles, excellent mate! :D

My town held it's Fall Festival the 30th. There is a chili cook off, and it just so happens my friends from school all dressed as Wonderland characters. :D

All of you hatters look awesome. And Bleyd your Um looks beautiful. :D

Thanks! I'll tell my girlfriend, she'll love to hear that. Coolest part is the white part of the dress is made of drapes we got at the thrift store. 5 bucks for 10 yards! 100 yards of ribbon and 200+ hearts.

Hey everyone! I've been lurking on here for a while and I'm just now getting the courage up to post some pictures. :)

I know it's not perfect, and photographing white is terrible so a lot of the detail work gets lost, but here is my White Queen!

Today my Alice is stopping by so we can take some photos together. So I'm hoping I can set up the lighting so I won't look like a giant white blob. haha.

And I'm planning to get more, and hopefully better pictures soon with the rest of my Alice gang. Whenever our Hatter finishes his costume... *cough*tindan*cough*

I just wanted everyone to know I love seeing all the awesome AiW costumes on here! :love

Hello Hello!
Now that the Halloween season is over (I'm now working in a costume house and have had practically no life for 8 weeks) I can catch up on things here :)

Everyone's pix look wonderful!

Regarding the ric rac skirt-I've seen 1 person whose made the skirt in the cosplay world-and that was months before the film.
The issues are:
You don't get to see the skirt in the film, so most have decided not to make it (though we got great images of it in the production photos that were leaked)
And the availability of the ric rac needed in the correct S.A. sizes is minimal :(
There is typically white available, but most ric rac fails to take dye-
I live in L.A., and when I started shopping to make the skirt, I spent days trying to track down the right ric rac, or dye my own, and had no success.
So I'd LOVE if you find a resource for the correct sizes and colors, and you share that resource here :)

For those who may not have noticed the ric rac skirt from the film:

I love how similar Alice's traveling coat is to e Violet Baudelaire's from Lemony Snicket-also an Atwood designed film :)

Finally here are some pix of our group out on Halloween in West Hollywood :)
We made lots of new friends, saw some great costumes, and had a lovely time!

Eventually I'll be making a Hatter coat, adding the black squares to his vest, and making the accessories on his hat S.A.
I've been asked to make the brother in law's suit from the engagement party for a friend-no research started on that yet.
Finally for myself I'd love to do the ric rac skirt-if a resource is found, a Red Queen, and the green and yellow Hightop villager woman :)

Skarlett, do you have any idea what size of ric rac you need for the skirt or how much? I've got a couple of sites bookmarked that sell jumbo ric rac in a couple of different shades of "Alice" blue. I think the very widest is only 1.5 inches though. The amount available varies, but one of the paler blue jumbo ric rac has 30 yard available, if I remember correctly.

Ah, dismaldreary, I love your White Queen which I've also seen on deviantart. Your gorgeous work makes me want to finish up my WQ gown.

My photo contribution of my Hatter so far: :confused

-I'll have to pull out my file on the costume-don't know off the top of my head.
But to figure it out I did math-and math is hard :(
I took the actresses height, then figured based on her height and presumed torso length, the length of the skirt-
then took that and figured out how wide each row would be to equal the correct number of rows based on the length of the skirt-
it's silly really-

However-if you've found a blue that works, and they have multiple sizes in the exact same colors, buy them.

I want to say the widest was 2 inches-and scaled down from there-

I hesitate to buy it myself since I'm not 100% sure of size or color of ric rac. But here are the places I had book marked. Maybe they'll at least be a starting point. :)

DUSTY BLUE GIANT RIC RAC Trim 1.5 JUMBO 1 yd RicRac on eBay!

Jumbo Ric Rac, 1+13/32 inch

jumbo blue ric rac on Etsy, a global handmade and vintage marketplace.

Ric Rac (Mega Ric Rac 2 1/4" wide, but not much in blue)

Your best bet is to find a wholesaler. I found this company which has many colors and many sizes of ric rac and their spools are something like 72 yards. It doesn't even look like you have to have a tax id to buy from them....it just says if available. I'm not exactly sure what the pricing is since you're getting a lot of ric rac on one spool but you could always try to find a group of people (I for one would be interested) who'd be willing to chip in on the spools and find out how much yardage of each size everyone would need etc if that makes sense.
