That's the first time I seen the peacock pin with that color scheme... I was going to make mine off of this one... LOL

Here are some photos of my recently [almost] completed bodice beading for Red Queen.
I had to make the cone shaped caps from flatter caps, and I know there really shouldn't be smaller beads on the bottom but they were the only way I could keep my larger pearls on. The gold rectangle bits are hand wired, as I couldn't find anything else to appropriately serve. I think I posted a while back ago some progress photos of making the red jeweled bits. They were originally gold and white buttons. I popped the white parts out and replaced them with the red jewels. I had to file the jewels to fit in each slot. I attached some simple wire backing with hot glue that should also help keep the jewels in place. I've got a gold chain for around the neck. Once I've started and worked on the actual bodice piece I'll post more photos.

Great shot of the gem. I know there were several versions of the hat didn't think they did differant pins too. I picked up my button from this place......... Welcome to Mendels!
Got it in person there, got the last two the had, they had other sizes, didn't think of photographing what they had there. Next time I go I may but it's not anytime soon. Great place for unsual fabrics. Just think of it as a Michaels with a bit of SF flair to it.

This is why I hate living in Ohio... I'm just stuck with Hobby Lobby, Jo Ann Fabrics, and Michaels for crafting supplies. I wish we has more independent suppliers around here that had more original or unique fabric and notions.

At least you have those places....I've only got Walmart. And they dropped their fabric/craft department. :confused :thumbsdown

And I forgot to measure me head again!!!! :confused I swear I'll do it tonight for ya! :$

You better or I'll drive to your house and measure it for you (even though it would take me 7 hours to get there).

One of our Walmart stores is getting a new fabric isle but all the fabric is pre-cut and put into little paper sleeves (kind like baby blankets are) and hung up on pegs. Fabric selection sucks though.

I also got the odd urge to mess with my hat some more and put a different striped patch on it and added more gold threading. I'm still thinking about adding some black paint accents to give the fabric the 'burnt holes' effect but kinda up in the air about that. Will post more pictures when I get the hat to 100% where I want it.

Peacock pictures were the inspiration I needed... (Today's project)

PS KEL: Thats what the painted holes look like... I couldn't cut holes into the vinyl because it looks horrible, but I think the paint worked out alright...

MrPinski, that looks great!!!! I used vinyl too... Painted the holes on as well and then ended up cutting them out in most places. With the vinyl, after the top layer, the interior is white ( or a lighter colour ) cause it's on that fuzzy backing right? I just took a sharpie to all those edges. But I think as opposed to doing that, painting them all on is much more time conservative and gives a more uniform look overall. Nice work! I love the peacock pin too... flawless!

Pinksi, what did you use for the base of your peacock pin? It looks pretty sturdy and I'm trying to find the best base material before commiting my supplies to the final product.

So, I found one store online that had the eyebrows and hatpins in stock. I now have them in my hands......and they aren't ALL bad. I'll post pics later tonight.....

Hey everyone,

I hope it's okay to post this here. I know it isn't exactly what you guys do, but I need some feedback and the guys over on onesixthwarrior.com don't exactly like Burton's Alice. I'm in the middle of revamping the Hatter's vest and have one side done. I'm trying to get as close to SA as possible, though I'm limited because of scale. :( Thanks in advance.
