Thunderbirds Helijet

Here comes another big Anderson fan:lol
I'm so happy that some one to go tackle this.
You're not going to go weathering this?

Great build:thumbsup

After a longer than expected delay and some new pieces from an Airfix B-24, I've finally laid down some paint!

Still some paint to do, but mostly minor, then it's on to assembly and weathering.

As for the rear wings, Matchbox used to have a glider and trailer. The wings came off and looked something like those, upside down.

As it was two days ago:

Here's the wings painted up:

I had noticed that the insides appear to have not been painted on the original, so I painted them a similar colour grey.

Almost ready for decals (that I don't have yet :))

After what seems like years (it has been) I've finally finished my Helijet today. It does need a final dusting of dullcote, but I'm out. These are just iPhone pics, so once I get some DullCote I'll take some beter ones.

I don't know how I've missed this thread so far, I'm usually a sucker for any Thunderbirds builds!
And this is an outstanding piece of work!:thumbsup

Hi lee
i am new to this group and have just read your thread fantastic build sir. I am getting together the parts to make this as well can I ask for any advice you can give and what were the rear wings in the end
thanks in advance Derek

Hey Derek,
I don't think they have been figured out yet. What I have is a best guess, but it's not 100%. I forget the actual kit I used, but I'll search for it. You could really just use any 1/72nd prop planes wings that are, or can be cut to, the right size.

Hi Derek.
From my research The rear wings at the end on both sides are 1/2 wing from a Convair b-58 Hustler Aurora kit. It is the old original kit that was used.

Cheers
Dave
