Thunderbirds Helijet

I've always wanted to make one of these as it was used in 4-5 episodes of Thunderbirds and as a kid I had the 'I want to fly in one of those' thoughts.

I few people have made replicas over the years as it's a fairly basic kit bash of two Hawk Huskies, two Aurora B-58's and an Atlas booster.

I finally got a new/clean B-58 (the hardest kit to get) to go with the part assembled one I had (only need the two engines from it, I would have cast them if I'd got the good kit first) and I was off:

It's a little trickier than it looks at first (what isn't) and I am spending alot more time making it clean as it'll be a display piece. I'm also building it to be painted and then assembled easily with various pins and bolts.

I've still had to guess in a few areas as there's no pictures of the original miniature (unless YOU know different! If so please message me) but thankfully Thunderbird just got released on BluRay and some good HD screen caps have helped:

The biggest question is what was used for the rear side wings...

It's good to be building something again :)

Ultra cool dude, your work is outstanding!. Always loved the Thunderbirds hardware, even today it's amazing how it still holds my viewing!.
The helijet was a craft I always wanted, bugged Dad to bits to make one, maybe one day, sigh!.
