Thrall WOW Cosplay

You gotta be almost done! That looks so great! I'm inspired to get started on mine. Thanks for the helpful tips! I just received my 1/4" foam, bought some silicone (need to get some naptha) and starting the actual muscle suit and am going to order a simple orc mask from rubie then modify it.

Thank you Notbob.

So the completion of this costume was rushed 3 1/2 days of straight work only stopping to sleep a total of 6 hours. I definitely learned never to set a deadline on a project like this or suffer the consequences.

I took the costume to Emerald City Comic Con and won costume catagories Tinker, Audience Choice, and Masters. I am humbled to have won anything and was just happy to be there and in costume. I didn't actually finish and rushed the hair working on it up until 30 minutes before prejudging.

This was also the first opportunity I had to wear all of the costume and lucked out not to have run into any major complications. The costume is hot and uncomfortable but without the mask is bearable. The mask was hot and thick enough to prevent good communication with people which disconnected me from the experience. Something to consider for future projects. The worst was I had choose to use horse tail hair for the mask. I choose it because it was affordable and came in lengths of 40", but didn't realize just how course it is. It felt like thousands of needles poking me in the head. This project is not totally finished there are a couple small things I still would eventually like to do, but right now I'm looking to take a break and I'm thinking about my next project.

I saw this beast in person and it was completely deserving of all the awards it won at ECCC. A thoroughly awesome costume that addressed all the details really really well. This is the kind of work and craftsmanship that keeps me coming back to therpf. Nice job!

I don't even play World of Warcraft, but this costume, the documentation, and attention to detail is amazing!
I hope I can bring the same amount of creativity, and ingenuity to next build.

I also sympathies with the silicon painting experience. It is difficult to see results since silicon is naturally transparent. So you have to apply it in layers.
The paint thinner dries out very fast, and as a result gunks up airbrushes a lot. So you spend a lot of time just cleaning the airbrush.
In the end the high stretch strength, transparent capabilities, and non allergenic properties are worth it.

First I would like to apologize for resurrecting this thread, but I just started getting back pictures from a photo shoot I did. I am really happy with how these turned out.

This whole build looks great dude! I'm thinking about tackling a foam muscle suit for either a Grommash Hellscream build or Orgrim Doomhammer.

One question, after you skinned the muscle suit did you cover it in latex or silicone?

Ah! I saw the picture but not the line of text right above it. I thought it looked shinier than latex though.
