Thor Movie Reviews

I went to watch Thor yesterday, and I really liked it. I won´t anticipate it, but now is one of my favorite super hero movies. I think Branagh knew what he was talking about. I personaly recommend it.

I really didn't like Thor in the comics so I already have a predispositioned dislike for him. What did you like about it that really made it pop for you?

I disliked Thor in the comics as well (except the hippie Thor in the ultimates) but this looks great and has been getting a lot of good buzz. I'm excited and feel pretty sure I'll enjoy it.

What did you think of the movies Daredevil? Ghost Rider? X-men trilogy? and Punisher War Zone?

it was a good movie .The destroyer, The Frost Giants and Stan Lee's cameo was my favorite parts . Loki was down played to me.

I saw it too. The Asgard moments are EPIC. Midgar part of the movie is very entertaining, with action, humour and lots of marvel references. All the actors are amazing, and Loki really owns the movie. Soundtrack is really good. Story and character development are a bit rushed because it wants to tell too much in a single movie, but it's ok for me anyways.

Hawkeye is in the movie! The actor really looks good for the character, I'd have liked to see him more.

The fight scenes with Thor are incredible: he's just like in the comics. Spinning his hammer, creating a storm, flying, etc. He is really over the top but still credible, which is the real challenge of a Thor movie.

Not everybody will love it (it's a very different superhero movie, with all that fantasy/scifi stuff), but it's definitely one of my favourite comic adaptations so far! Really worth watching on the cinema. And 3d was fine for a post-production, best 3D conversion I've seen (but you can save your money if you don't care about 3d, it's not avatar quality).

Now if you need to know about my taste: I like and hate all superhero movies at the same time xD
The ones I just hate are Spiderman 3, Ghost Rider and the first Punisher. Wolverine sucks and Daredevil was so meh I just don't remember it. Both FF movies are funny but somehow irrelevant. But I really enjoy watching X-Men 3, Punisher Warzone and I loved Iron Man 2 even more than the first one, so it seems that I use to like superhero movies with lots of epic action and less character development (I know who the characters are, I just want to see them kicking some supervillain asses)

I viewed it last night and thought it was an amazing film. Kenneth Branagh is a genius. I'm a comics and general film geek and I thought the two worlds were combined masterfully. The editing, and pace of the film were perfect. Acting was great, over the top as to be expected with these type of larger than life characters. I had never been happier leaving the theater than with THOR. I'm a little biased with the upcoming Green Lantern film, but if I had to make a bet, I'd say Thor will come out on top when the dust settles by the end of the summer. I will see it again later on, but I would recommend the film to fans and nonfans, as it's got a great range of drama and comedy, so it's a well rounded film.

i have not seen it yet, but i am glad it is getting the thumbs up here. love thor........i just want to see thor and the hulk fight on the big screen!!!!!!! maybe when the avengers hits!

Is this Kenneth B's first foray into blockbuster territory? I never saw him as a "superhero movie" kinda guy.

He's not. Kenneth Branagh is classicly trained and I think he threw the entire world for a loop when he signed to direct THOR. It sure did pay off IMO. :cool
The Hulk may or may not actually fight Thor. I can tell you for sure that the official word is that The Hulk is not the villian to battle The Avengers though.
Oh, and there is a nice surprise appearance in the middle and after the credits. So stay glued to your seat for some extra goodness.

EvilRocketeer, my favorite comic book adaptation is Watchmen (Director´s cut).
And liked some of the ones you named above, but didn´t like WZ.

sorry to butt in. this is my first post in this section really. :lol

well for me the movie was great. Watched it yesterday. Though it left a cliffhanger right about the end. I recommend it to fans and non fans. Though it didn't have much character development, i think the fight scenes and cameos make up for it. Now looking forward for Capt. America.

:thumbsup

Saw it and loved it. Enjoyed the Asgard portions more... the Earth parts were a bit draggy at times but somewhat necessary since it sets up the Avengers tie-in. Hemsworth makes a good Thor, Hopkins wasn't too hammy as Odin, but Loki stole the show. Hawkeye's cameo was nice but Thor's pals were kinda cheesy, especially Ray Stevenson, who looked like he was trying to channel John Rhys Davies but failed miserably. Stay tuned till after the credits... You wont be disappointed.

Saw it - Hated it.

The story moves at writer's request and not by character decision or story set up. Unlike others here, I LOVED the Thor comics, but I even loved Thor's cameos in other books more. Like when he would show up in Hulk or Spider-man. The movie goes from pretty cool to "hip" too fast for me.

Sounds like someone never read any Thor/Avenger comics in the last 10 years. Did you notice they nodded to Thor's alter ego multiple times throughout the film?

Jet: Can you honestly tell me there wasn't one thing you liked about the film? The entire theater got into the film. All the comedic scenes went over very well, and I suprisingly enjoyed the Warriors Three/Sif as well as Kat Denning's preformance. Anthony Hopkins killed it as always. :D

Can't wait for this flick to get here.

Kat Dennings is yummy.
