This is "The Ultimates" version of Cap I believe, and he does use a pistol. I think all of Marvel's films are based on The Ultimates comics line, right?

You are correct, sir. In the Ultimates universe, Cap is a soldier who doesn't shy away from using firearms when the situation warrants it.

Those are absolutely spectacular... I would LOVE to get my hands on them!

If you look at the photo of Odin's throne room that was released a few days ago, Odin is holding that spear so it's gotta be what Loki is holding in that concept art... now whether or not the concept art definitely depicts what happens in the movie I don't know but it seems safe to assume it would in some form.
