Hello! This is my first build on the rpf and one of the first ever actually. I'm really not used to this scale of projects but I am confident that with some help from people I know plus maybe you guys it will succeed!

I started off working on the blue prints today and it does not look completely right:

This one looks really weird to me:

Also managed to throw in some electronics! (big thanks to volpin for showing me the MAX7221)

I am afraid that updates might be slow (if anyone in here have any interest in this build).

I have started working on a new board design that is going to go into the backpack for the led controll. Trying to find some hd reference images in order to draw my front and top blue prints, it's hard!

ok, things are going slow and motivation is fading fast. Here is some images for no one to see!

The amount of precision of getting the blueprints and the led boards is awesome. Making both of the daft punk helmets is my dream build but never got enough time to do it. But its looking good ill be following up

Given the amount of LEDs I would recommend the Holtek HT1632c chips for the main matrix and the Max 7221 for the others. You can run more outputs on the HT1632c which means less delay from cascading, also by keeping the circuits seperate you can overdrive the main matrix to compensate for scan rate and run the side LEDs normally.

Thank you! I have been working really hard on it but came to a stop. So I decided to just order a finished cast (lazy, I know) and work from there. Had to scrap the pcbs since I could not find a cheap way to manufacture advanced boards, so I am making them by hand! here are some images:

Thank you for the advice! I might do just that.

Actually I have had a chance of plan with mine, im now using SMD shift registers for all my LEDs on my Thomas update. The issue is all the curved surfaces inside the helmet and PCBs like to be flat.

I wish i had the interest in electronics! i just can't stand the bloody stuff! :p you are doing an amazing job though keep up the good work!

Sorry for the HUGE delay in progress I haven't been that motivated to continue. But the work goes on and here is an update on the led display...
