Things you're tired of seeing in movies

Yeah, I know - I was oversimplifying things.

Then again, I were enlisted myself (turned down the Academy,) and that's probably also therefore a case of wishful thinking on my part.

Officers are too damned political. I think that's also due at least in part to minting ossifers out of silly-vilians, merely because they had four years to waste in school. Again, academies should only be open to prior-service enlisted, preferences to blooded troops, non-coms, and mostly blooded non-coms.

I still can't feature how having a degree makes you any better as a leader of men, or as a pilot. Could someone please explain that to me? (Much less how one can be a "better officer" simply because one has a four-year degree in something useless - LibArts, GenEd, PoliSci, and the like all come to mind...)

I do remember the "Danger Close" lingo being tossed around, but I don't recall there being anything specifically about civilians. There may have been, but I don't remember it. It was just a goofy scene, particularly when the A-10s didn't do squat and THEN the infantry descended to plink away with what was, comparatively speaking, spitballs and harsh language.

"Danger close," as I recall, is typically only used when you're calling in fire so close to you that the only "safe" place would be in your own pocket...

A heterosexual women undressing in front of an alleged gay man or confiding her innermost secrets to him because he's just another "girl." Bad cliche that's been overused.

Care to name some movies that use this overused Cliche?

Excluding Kickass which you obviously just watched..

Be a funny flip on this if it turns out he liked girls too but didn't tell anyone just to get a peak lol. I don't know any girls who would get undressed with a guy around gay or not. Then again i'm finding out girls aren't as shy as i thought about stuff. How about cell phones that get full bars out in the middle of nowhere? i've found that you never get bars when you need them in real life let alone out in the middle of nowhere.

What about that movie where Adam Sandler pretended to marry Kevin James, with Jessica Beal?

I've seen that in several movies, although only that one comes to mind.

You what really gets me? When someone, like a federal agent or a cop or terrorist or somebody is in public and they're waving their gun around and then no one sees it or freaks out.

Besides, Kick Ass and I now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, it's in My Boss's Daughter as well. Seen it in TV shows as well.

Zombies and Vampires. We need more of those movies like we need George Lucas to direct more SW prequels.

It's when you're calling in munitions well within the circle around you considered to be safe distance for the weapon you're asking to be used. With air-delivered stuff, that circle is very large. One movie that shows it to terrifying effect is the ending of "Platoon," (where the Company Commander calls in a flight of F-5s dropping napalm on his own position, which really happened a few times in that war) which did a relatively good job showing how it's done.

I think I posted it earlier, but I agree with you. Same as car chases, ever notice how few people even bother to look up when two cars are chasing each other? Sillier still when the people in those cars are shooting at each other and still nobody seems to notice!

Happy endings and the goodguys always winning. It was the one thing about Terminator 3 i liked was the ending. Or if he good guys do win it's taken a massive toll on them. Seems like hollywood loves clean happy endings.
