I don't have any idea what it takes to fabricate something like this, but I imagine it must require a great deal of skill. You've done a fantastic job.

Would you care to describe the process a bit or are they trade secrets?

Thanks; It would take quite a book to describe in detail what has taken years of basically trial and error to learn; However I can say that there is no right or wrong way to begin building your own puppet; and the Muppet style puppet certainly isn't the only type. There are paper mache, shadow puppetry, marrionettes, ventriloquist dummy's, and the list goes on and on. So it really depends on what you feel driven to build and perform with. I personally always leaned toward the Muppet style puppet, they're just great to perform with and the types of characters that can be created are just endless.
They all start with a Urthane or reticulated foam base structure, for the body and head; then from there you either have a fleece or fur for skin, sometiemes the foam is flocked in the case of a Miss Piggy style puppet.

Thank you, Thank you... As I said The Count is one of my favorites to build, he was also the first replica I've ever built many many years ago, so there is a certain feeling of nostalgia everytime I build one.

Re: Thee Count replica Puppet Showcase

I will have a count!!! I just have to wait until after taxes because I'm sure it isn't cheap. :D

WOOO HOOO! I had no idea you did the Count as well; you're going to have to do a whole colague of pics to see them all together... These are just out of this world!! They look better than the originals!!
So how big is the Count? I always imagined him to be larger than the other characters for some reason.

Thanks Matty;
The Count is to scale with all the other characters he usually interacts with; if you look at a human actor standing next to The Count that's a good way to figure out the scale. He's basically the same basic structure as Ernie or Mumford or any of the other human-arm style people characters on Sesame. The monsters, well that's another story.
