I saw an ad for this book and it looked like it might have some good referance, as well as be an interesting read on a legend in SFX. :D

From the website at http://www.thewinstoneffect.com/

The Winston Effect:
The Art and History of Stan Winston Studio
For over 30 years, Stan Winston and the Stan Winston Studio have been creating unforgettable creatures for movies including The Terminator, Aliens and Jurassic Park. This deluxe retrospective, featuring hundreds of never-before-seen photographs and pieces of artwork, is the first-ever book to reveal the secrets of their groundbreaking work.

**I believe it is due in stores in November

Just got an E-mail from Monsters in Motion that Stan will be there Dec.2 signing copies of his book.

I know this is an old thread but I had to reply to it. I own this book and it is a must have for any fan of his work. I was lucky enough to get the limited SIGNED edition.

Rest in peace Mr. Winston

I have to agree with the comments here. If you are in any way a fan of the industry and/or of Stans work, this book is a compulsory acquisition.

Written by my friend CINEFEX (http://www.cinefex.com) writer and editor JODY DUNCAN, this was a labor of love for all concerned. Unfortunately Stan - I suspect - knew time was running out.

This is a deeply treasured book because Stan dedicated my copy to me..

You are one lucky person. Again to those that don't have this book , you can still find it out there. You think you know Stan Winston's work but you will be so surprised to learn how his magic and talent truly affected the movie industry. You may know the iconic characters Stan created but I was so surprised to learn that there were sooooooo many others he graced us with. GET IT PEOPLE you won't be able to put it down once you start reading. :thumbsup

its a great book, i love the pages on edward scissorhands and how stan describes working with Tim Burton.

WOW... My thread from 2006 comes flying back up to the top :confused

What is sad is that I never did get the book:unsure

You really should get the book, it is great. I totally enjoyed it and still pic it up to look at the pics.
