The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

Ive got a 5-pack of ribbon extension cables coming from amazon in a couple days, so I can play around with one and see whats doable (y)

Im not transferring anything. I dont want to do anything I cant un-do lol. Plus I want all the lights to still work like normal. I think Ive figured out how to do it without moving any of the original components, except for the display swap obviously.

I bought the same LCD setup that this person and this other person used in their tricorder builds

Its a 40-pin ribbon, but if I can get it through and down into the moire compartment there is a big enough spot behind its motor for that pcb (i think). This board takes 5V power, which is in that compartment already, so I might splice in for power there or take it from down below I don't know yet. It depends if I want the tricorders original battery to power the display when the tricorder isn't plugged in.
The VIDEO IN wires to this pcb are that yellow one and the white one, which I can wire to a little tiny 3.5mm connector and install in the roof of the lower compartment

I want the lower compartment to stay empty except for this little port and a short skinny USBC cable like this one coming up from below

I figure i can just notch a little spot in the 2 dividers to fit the cable laying along the bottom, if I ever need to install them

Im going to give the media player its own battery and put everything in a small case so I can just drop it in and take it out of the lower compartment whenever I want. That way if I need to funkle around with it I can do it at my desk instead of struggling to reach in thru the lower compartment door. I'll install another 3.5mm connector in the media player case and connect the two with one of these
