The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

I was just about to cancel my cable to save a few bucks, because the only show I really watch is Clone Wars, and I can catch that online.

Guess I'll be keeping it now. What a great show. I'm always nervous when a comic or novel I love is adapted, but man, they friggin nailed it.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

i dont remember it being brief, i remember it being close to what happened in the show.

Her relationship with Shane was a one night stand. When she tells Frank about it in the prison. She said it happened once on their way to Atlanta because she was really depressed about leaving Frank behind and assumed he was dead. She said she regretted it right after the fact.

I'm very excited for this series. The first episode was awesome. I also agree that "runners" are horrible and should not be. The whole point of surviving a zombi-pocolypes is the fact that they are slow and u have that to your advantage. But if your up againts a runner ur toast sooner or later, they do not tire nor do they give up. Wrecks a movie I think. As for memorys... I can tolerate the slight memorys like going to a going to a familier place, like home. But working at the gas station? def not. lol

so..after she finds out she's pregnant and comes clean...why is she still feeling bad? because it wasnt just one night. plenty of nights happened after that.

her husband was assumed dead, and she needed to be with him for her, and carl's survival. to do that, it means putting out.

Not true.. I know a couple of people who have cheated on their other half only once, and they still feel terrible about it, even years later.. Besides, the books only eluded to a 1 night affair, I think its a good change for the show that they explore this

it wasnt a one night thing. frank was assumed dead. she wasnt going to remain celibate, and she wasnt going to be ok with her choice, it was a means of survivial. he is what kept her and carl alive, and the only way for her to keep that going was to be "with" him.

sex is sex. sometimes its a tool. sometimes its with love. in her case, it was a tool for survival.

im not getting into logistics here.

Well, the kiss in the episode seemed to imply that whatever is going on between Shane and Lori is ongoing.

In the book, it was a one time thing that Lori didn't plan to continue. Shane had other ideas....

her kissing him in the show one time, didnt appear any different than what appeared in the books.

shane wants more. she doesnt but would continue had frank still been dead. end of story.

Enjoyed the first episode, though I got a "seen it before" vibe when he woke up in a abandoned hospital. Sad that the season only goes for 6 episodes in total.

Agreed, it's a cool show, but the fact that they didn't even try to come up with a different way for someone to miss a zombie apocalypse instead of lifting it directly from 28 days later was just lazy writing and border line plagiarism.

But what other [plausible] way is there, really?

There was nothing like the kiss in the first episode in the book at all. In the book, it was a one night stand that she regretted.

The TV show seems to be implying more of a relationship. Something I'm guessing that is stopped when Rick finds them.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Sorry guys, Glock introduced the Internal locking system back in '03. Its is a manually activated lock that is located in the back of the pistol's grip. Maybe they didn't have him reaching for the correct spot?
Are you talking about THIS? Cuz that's a lock, not really a "safety" in the traditional sense of the word. (although they use the word *safety*, as apparently people are too stupid to infer that the concept of a lock might be to add some safety)

And yeah, he "clicked" the slide-stop with his thumb while the pistol was in a firing configuration. Which would do exactly nothing.

GREAT show.
^Quoted for truth.^

so, you think he wrote the original comic in three months after 28 days debuted in the us? can i pretend to ignore things such as "preproduction" and "conception" on a movie prop replica website too?

and we're debating a kiss in an episode about a comic too? i cant understand this place at all. had frank NEVER showed up, would she still be screwing around with shane regardless if she liked it or not?

ask yourselves that. it was implied, even if it were a one night(by her "admission" to frank AFTER A DEATH), it would happen again, because FRANK. WAS. ASSUMED. DEAD. BY. LORI. WHO. WANTED. TO. SEE. THAT. SHE. AND. CARL. SURVIVED.

come on. you all read the book right? stop acting like you arent able to read into things and have to be spoon fed plot points.

The author admits seeing 28 days later after he had completed the first issue and says the intro similarities were just a coincidence. He says he could have changed it before going to press but he chose not to. I don't know if I believe that, but it's just the intro, the rest of the show was great and I overlooked it.

Hmm... good point.
How about a kidnapping victim, locked in a basement? Or someone trapped in a mine or some other structure after a cave in? I've seen news stories of people driving off the road and wrecking, being pinned in their car surviving off of whatever is in reach, or even just a simple long secluded camping expedition.

just so we're clear, you're contradicting yourself correct?

^Everything is a copy of a copy...of a copy. Can't we just agree, that we have seen this type of opening, and that it is a great comic/show?

No, I simply established that he did in fact see 28 days later before they printed the first issue. As to whether it inspired him or it was simply a coincidence, you have to decide whether or not to believe him.

But arguing on the internet is so fun and productive!

The Walking Dead/28 Days Later thing...

any google search with "28 days later walking dead" will get you results. do some homework. instead of shrug it off and say "its open to your interpretation." you cant throw out a comic book created from the ground up in three months.

a comic book is worked on long before its released to the general public. a movie is worked on long before its released to the general public. its called "pre production."

"The Walking Dead" (2010) - FAQ

It should be noted that the "28 Days Later" opening echoes the opening of "The Day of the Triffids" (1962), in which Howard Keel's eyes are bandaged while he recovers from an eye operation. When he awakes in the hospital the next day, almost everyone in the world has gone blind as the result of watching a fantastic meteor shower that his operation prevented him from seeing.

just out of curiosity do you like just posting for the sake of doing it?
