The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Took forever for the website to accept my entry - "too many connections" indeed...

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

yep kiddies and the code word for the night was Survival. Now go crash the AMC site again. lol

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Wow. Just... wow. That was really powerful stuff.

I'm really looking forward to the next episode now!

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Oh my god.. everything I had hoped for, nothing that I had feared.. I will order this on DVD as soon as it's available.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I havent read the comics, but I love the show so far. It is pretty well done..The only bad part is waiting for another week for a new episode...

why didnt the father and son join the officer guy on his trip to atlanta?

Also, I am glad to see Jeffrey DeMunn as a cast member

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Very nice, I was totally squirming when he was going down the stairwell in the hospital..EEEK!

When he was under the tank, I really though.. HE IS F'D. They did a great job selling that scene.

"I'll keep you safe Mr. Horse.. NOT! Loved the horse intestines.. Pretty gruesome for basic cable!

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Anyone that likes it and hasn't read the comics, go check them out. There are a couple of things, that I have a feeling won't be on tv.

The thing I love about the comics, is no one is safe. there are main characters that don't make it. Good stuff!

well, it was only episode one. I figured a few main characters will kick the bucket sooner or later. Well, I am hoping for his partner to kick the bucket pretty soon....Not a fan of the actor playing him, his acting wasnt that great compared with others on the show...Kinda hard to explain...like I know this is a cable tv show and sometimes great acting/ mediocre acting isnt expected..just this show as a cinematic feel to it and raises the bar..he gives off a mcdonalds commercial feel type of acting...or maybe i am just looking way too much into this.

And I will probably hold off reading the comics until the series is over...I like being surprised without knowing what might happen next

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I'm only up to volume 11 in the collected books, and agree with parsmear. Whe I heard they were bringing it to TV, I wondered if/how they were going to show some of the soff that is going to happen.

EvilRocketeer, I think the father (and son) stayed behind because he had some business to take care of.

KNB's make-up effects look killer.

Like the 2 kids in the jails barber shop?

++SPOILERS++

Pretty much non of the original survivors make it in the comics

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I really liked the show but I really hope it doesn't turn into a "You'll never guess who's going to go next!!" thing. It's just TV cliche' at this point.

Morgan and Duane didn't join him because the guy's undead wife was still staggering around. He won't leave until he puts her down, but hasn't worked up the nerve to do it yet.

So now that the first episode has aired, is it available to watch online at a legitimate site like Hulu or on the AMC official site?

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

*Sigh of relief*
Man, I am so glad they did a good job with this. There were a couple of things that I was inordinately happy about (that I can address without spoiling anything):

1. Cop wakes up in the hospital, can't get a nurse to answer, looks out the door to see the hospital deserted/fraxx0red, & doesn't OPEN HIS YAPPER AGAIN while he's in there. FINALLY a character with some situational awareness. I get so tired of movies where someone suddenly finds themselves in a strange situation, where ALL HELL HAS OBVIOUSLY broken loose, to have them spend the next ten minutes wandering around screaming: "HELLO?! HELLLLLOOOOOO???!!! ZOMGWTF HEEEEEEELLLLLLOOOO?!?!?!?!"

2. When he fires the pistol inside the tank, & goes deaf/gets-his-brain-scrambled for a couple minutes. It's cool to see some basic realism added to a situation, as opposed to the hero that can shrug off anything cuz he's so damn super.

To sum up: I can't wait until next week. :thumbsup

P.S. I also really liked the scenes with the half-corpse. Nice touch.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

They added some emotion/drama besides just omg zombies. Gives people a chance to relate or get involved with the characters so when something does happen you are like WTF....

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Those two elements were very nicely done. But - and I still absolutely loved it - they did make one or two goofs early on:

The deputy making sure his pistol's safety was off. Glocks don't have safeties; Rick, the deputy, and the prop master should know that.

The fugitives' car hits the unattended spike strips, but the two patrol cars following right behind are fine. Admittedly, they did stop at some point, but it looked like they were following too close to have avoided having their tires shredded as well.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Loved the first episode. I didn't understand the use/need of the "foreshadowing" at the gas station.

Definitely thought that was unnecessary, too. Would've rather had gone in cold with the chase... granted with a title like 'Walking Dead' and the publicity, everyone pretty much knew this was about "zombies," but still would've left that bit for later. This intro was basically meant for shock value.

The only other complaint I had was Shane and Lori being in a "relationship." Which, correct me if I'm wrong in the book, they only "hooked up once" and Shane wanted more.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

When the guy with the kid was firing his rifle trying to get the zombies to come around, and thus, his wife...wasn't that a bad idea? He said himself that gun shots bring in the zombies. I know he was trying to get his undead wife to come around, which he did, but wouldn't that cause all of the other zombies to attack the house he was locked up in?

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Not that I can find... apparently the only legit way to watch it is on AMC or by purchasing it through iTunes, Amazon, Cinema Now, XBox and Playstation according to the official web site. I've only got DirecTV's low-end "family plan" which doesn't include AMC.

I may cave in and get the first episode on iTunes but I can't see dropping the money for an entire season pass (not to mention tv episodes take up a lot of space on the hard drive.)

Edit - it appears the season pass is only $15.99 which is a lot less than I expected. Just read on wikipedia that there are supposed to be only 6 episodes in season 1... could be worth it if it's as good as everybody is saying it is.
