The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Looking at the pics from the next 2 episodes and the IMDB page, I wonder why they're introducing all these new characters that weren't in the comic. IMHO, the comic had a pretty diverse group of characters right from the second or third issue. Hopefully they are just Zombie fodder and don't change the story in any major way.

it makes sense as they may be people they encounter on the way. i can see it because the comic really isnt episodic, but adding characters could make it so.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I guess in Washington, the zombies will ask for...chaaaaaaange.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

*sigh*

So get people used to zombie walks and invasions so when it REALLY happens they stand around and do nothing as the zombie hoardes overrun civilization.

That and stupid people in Boston are going to think that the zombies are terrorist victims and call in the national guard, causing a national panic until someone in authority has actually bothered to keep up with current events. (2007 Boston bomb scare - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

They aren't? The trailer at the end of the episode has a screen proudly displaying the Georgia Peach logo saying it was filmed on location.

They actually shot a good bit of stuff in Atlanta I believe. I recognized some of the city locations I drive by frequently just from the trailer. I didn't know they were filming here whenever they did it... they tend to like to film on weekends for obvious reasons (i.e. it's easier to shut down streets for filming) and of course I'm almost never downtown on weekends.

We've had a lot of stuff shot in the area lately... Zombieland had some stuff filmed here too - right outside my building at work actually. What is it with zombies and Atlanta these days?

As far as the show goes, I REALLY want to see this. I've never read the books so I've got no clue about that aspect of it but the trailer I watched looked great to me. Only problem is I've got the low-end channel package from DirecTV and they apparently aren't planning to offer the show online. I hope I'm wrong on that but I can't find it which sucks. Most of the stuff I don't get on tv I can catch up on via Hulu. I'll catch it when it hits netflix if nothing else I guess... :unsure

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I think he meant that they aren't doing the promotional zombie invasions in Atlanta. And I agree that would have been an obvious choice.

It would be different if it was filmed in a small town and the invasion wouldn't have gotten alot of exposure but come on Atlanta has to count as a major US city.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

yeh imeant the invasion stuff

hey i recgonized alot of the locals they used in georgia
alot of the country road stuff looked familar too and they referred to "85" alot in the episode

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

That was an awesome 90 minutes. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

One spoilery comment:
I thought the scene of him going back to find the leg-less zombie was really touching. Her first scene was was scary and gross, but when he finally finds her again, they did a great job making her more pitiable than threatening.

I was hooked in the 1st 10 minutes! It looks amazing and I can't wait until the next episode!

I totally agree, it was a sad moment, on both counts of that 5 min stretch

I loved it! Watching it again now. Anyone enter in the contest?

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Loved the first episode. I didn't understand the use/need of the "foreshadowing" at the gas station.
