The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Just got it and it looks good so far, was pretty excited about this show from the previews I saw at Comic Con.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

As for the zombies, I generally also prefer mindless eating machine Max Brook zombies (better be done right in the WWZ movie) but going into this with no prior expectations except a little hype from the community I was very pleased. And old NotLD kind of zombies are okay by me. The hate I really have is for the "too much memory zombies" (band in LotD) and learning zombies (gas station zombie LotD and the kid in the new Day-otD) as well as runners. I'll take just about anything else.

EDITED: to help comply with the post below

Enough with the pirated videos talk. If you want to discuss the show itself, that is fine, but lets move away from the torrent discussions.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I am so stoked to see this. I have all the comics, and if it is even close....Saaaaweet! Can't wait to watch it Halloween night with the Mrs:)

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I REALLLLLY want to watch this, since I've been waiting for months; but I am resolute in the notion that when I watch it for the first time, it will be in HD on my big(ish) TV.

WILLPOWER, baby! I has it.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I was tempted to go look for it... then I found out that in Denver it will be on from 8:00 to 9:30. That means that I'll still be able to watch it and go out afterward. I was worried by that 10:00 time slot. I'm certainly not going to be home at that hour on All Hallows' Eve to watch television. Sorry, I took Monday off for a reason and my Halloween last 3 days.

I'm not the biggest fan of the source material, glad to see Darabont knock it out of the park and far exceed the book.

When is this due to start officially airing, I'm looking forward to the next episode?

Wow, you are the first person I've ever heard express any criticism of the comics. Anything in particular you don't care for?

I find the artwork drab and ugly, the characters flat and unlikeable and the story becomes tired and repetitive pretty quickly. And there are a lot of folk who don't care for the book, guess it depends where on the web you hang out.

i dont even know where to begin to disagree with this. lets start with "everything." and call it quits.

For future reference, please note the words 'I find' at the beginning of my previous post. Like the majority of your endless antagonistic posts, the book just didn't work for me. That's me again, for emphasis.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

^Wow, don't like the book but like the show so far...COOL. Really can't wait now!

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Got my hands on a copy, LOVED IT. This is one download that is only going to increase their sales. Just from the first episode, I know I'm on board for the whole ride including the DVD set. Now I have to get caught up on the comic. I'm only 50 or so issues behind....:wacko

ouch. actually here's an antagonistic response, those reasons why you dont like this series, is the exact opposite of why i enjoy the series. i think the characters have great depth and are likeable and the story grows with each passing trade. i highly suggest you(or anyone not into the series) give it another shot, as i reread the series a few months back, this time around i read the prologue and kirkman said that you will not be able to recognize these characters anymore reading back. when i looked on the first page, rick was definitely not the same rick that is in the books today, he has evolved, (and devolved through needs of survival) into a compelling character(as well as the story).

its funny, how i wasnt at all antagonistic of your view, because had i been, i would have said "you're wrong." but now you couldnt be even more so.

the best way for me to read this series is by trade. i have them up to the most recent one, and they display very nicely on the shelf, they have a long image of zombies on the spine, and it helps with my impatience for the next issue.

I read, I dunno, ten issues of the book?

Got to the part where
they came to the town that was under control of the 'bad guys' after Rick and co. left the prison.
so I think I gave it a fair shot, I just didn't care about the characters or what happened to them.

As for your response, ever hear of the term 'passive agressive'? Probably not cool of me to respond like with like, but your OT post history seems to suggest you like provoking arguments for the hell of it.

Just calling it as I see it.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

it gets even crazier after that part of the series. thats actually one point where i went back and read just to see how much grimes has changed. i mean, consider all that went on up until that point, and the next 2 trades
he encounters a town of cannibals that ate their own children and will eat an infected member of frank's party that frank and crew gives horrifying justice to, and a completely safe town that they plan on stealing from and escaping as they find more and more outside of their group they cannot trust anyone
and to say he's an un-evolving character is not whats going on with him. at this point he's doing whatever he can for his group to survive, regardless of the cost, yet dealing with the cost at possibly losing his humanity.

i would argue, if anything about him, it would be he's spiraling into devolution(and walking dead is about specifically his loss of humanity, yet struggle to retain it), rather than evolution.

its a shame you've read this far and came to that conclusion. thanks for giving it a real shot though, some people read the first trade and call it quits.

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

I love the trades and the first episode was great. If AMC pulls this off I wish they would pick up the Preacher series

Re: The Walking Dead series hits the web early

Looking at the pics from the next 2 episodes and the IMDB page, I wonder why they're introducing all these new characters that weren't in the comic. IMHO, the comic had a pretty diverse group of characters right from the second or third issue. Hopefully they are just Zombie fodder and don't change the story in any major way.
