The Walking Dead Season 4

We didn't see him get shot. We only saw the girl point the gun at something off screen. Also, if Rick can survive a shotgun to the abdomen, and Carl can survive a rifle shot to the same area, then yes, I do believe the Governor could have survived a sword through the chest.

And the bullet hole in the head, as seen in several BTS pictures a few posts back, isn't an indication he was shot in the head? And, I'm pretty sure we see his dead body with a bullet hole in his head in the actual episode too.

In fact, what do you think that hole is in his head in this picture?

I've already seen that picture, and the other ones that show the same injuries. Yes, those are definitely death-causing injuries, but the mere fact they were not shown on TV is a strong indicator that they are not canon.

My God, really? Are you THAT delusional? The Governor is dead. Just because you don't see doesn't mean it doesn't happen! You know what we saw? We saw the Governor getting stabbed in the chest. You know what happens when that happens? You suffer from pneumothorax, which is a deflated lung. You know what happens when you have a deflated lung? You can't breathe unless the lung is re-inflated. And with where he was stabbed, there's a good chance that she nicked his heart and he'd be slowly bleeding out on the inside. So between those two injuries alone, with the lack of medical facilities and modern medical treatments, he would be dead in about an hour or so. And then we see Lilly raising her gun, aiming right and the Governor and firing. That means she shot him in the head.

By your statement of "because we didn't see it, he's alive", by that logic, then Merle should have his hand, since we didn't see him cut it off, and Sofia should be alive because we didn't see her get bitten by a walker, die and then come back to life. We didn't see those happen, and we got a clear indication of what happened. But what did we see? We saw the lead up of Merle trying to get the saw. We saw Sofia coming out of the barn with a freakin' chunk of her neck missing. Both events happened off screen, both of them occurred.

We saw the leadup to the Governor's death, be it dying from bleeding to death, being unable to breath from a deflated lung due to the puncture to the thoracic cavity or getting a bullet to the head. He's dead. Period.

And BTW, straight from the actor's mouth in this interview.

What was the conversation like when you found out the Governor would be killed off in the midseason finale?
I did get the death call [from Scott] and it's always a sad one. I knew the Governor wasn't someone who was going to be in it forever. I was very sad because I loved being in the show and working with everybody. Then the double whammy of also being the person who brings Scott Wilson's participation to an end was really heavy. All the episodes are all very demanding and shocking, and we had that at the end of last season when Laurie Holden (Andrea) and Michael Rooker (Merle) were both killed. It's something we go through on The Walking Dead and it's hard when it's other people, but it's just as tough when it's yourself.

That italicized part is important. Why? Because every character that has died in the show, the actor received that phone call prior to. If the Governor was still alive, that phone call never would have been made. It was. The Governor is dead, just like in the comics, a mad dog put down by a bullet to the head by a woman named Lilly.

Melissa McBride also got her death call in Season 3. Your argument is invalid.

1 out of how many characters who have died in the show, all of those actors getting the call, counts my argument as "invalid"? Yeah, right. Next thing you're going to tell me is that the assault is all a dream because one actor in one scene is seen eating a Danish instead of a Bagle which he is normally seen eating. Besides, you single out that bit of information, yet don't bother to respond about the rest I pointed out before that, kinda makes me think I'm making you doubt your self and you're grasping at anything to have a reason to keep him alive.

The fact is bringing him back for another go would be too exhausting for the audience (and frankly, the audience was tired of him by the time he got killed in the show), as we've already've had him already for two seasons. Let him go, he's dead, finished, end of story.

I'm not grasping at anything. It's as if you haven't seen the way TV shows operate.

I know how TV shows operate. I'm a film school graduate. And one of the things being taught is how to use visual information to convey what you want the audience to know. We see Michonne stab the Governor, and then we see Lilly aim the gun at the Governor and fire. The end result with the information presented is that the Governor is dead. Not alive, not barely alive, flat out dead. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's the only case of "less is more." And you know what? It doesn't take a film school graduate to get that the Governor is dead, as there are those of a wide variety of point of view here that clearly see that he's dead, except for you.

You clearly are grasping. The only person on this entire forum that even remotely thinks he's alive, is you. And you clearly can't accept the fact that he's dead. Get over it, the Governor is dead. He dies in the comics at the exact same point as he does in the show (in the assault at the prison, with a kill shot at the hands of a woman named Lilly). End of story.

And, to put an end to this whole argument, this article posted yesterday has information from one of the top people, Gale Ann Herd (the show's producer.

The options for a Governor return are extremely limited given the way the character met his demise at the end of the most recent episode. Michonne stabbed him and Lilly shot him in the head, which would make his return as a zombie impossible according to the rules of the show. Furthermore, producer Gale Anne Hurd has confirmed that the Governor is definitely dead.

And for good measure, Gale Ann Hurd's actual words from her confirmation, here.

On whether the Governor and Judith are truly dead: "That was a head shot! Lilly shot him," Hurd says, confirming the Governor's demise. As for baby Judith, she hedges, "First of all, I don't think you'd ever want to see a baby being killed. That's probably a line we won't cross. But at the same time, habeas corpus. We'll have to be just like them, wondering."

What are they gunna do about Carl? That kid isn't going to be a kid soon. Are they gunna let him grow on the show or how will they keep it like the comic where he is younger?

Well, he's already not a kid anyone. He's 14 years old.

I think Red4 is just trying to get you spun up ... It's unlikely anyone that saw the episode truely believes the Gov survived.

I almost was expecting Carol to say, "I heard him coughing" when she shot the camera man.
