The Walking Dead Season 3

I'm guessing he has an AUG because the producers thought it looked cool. They are making a show about zombies, not a documentary on firearms. Probably the producers and 99% of the people watching wouldn't know an AUG from an HK. They probably wanted to have the Governor have a something distinct to set him apart from everyone else.

the Virus is in the Air..thats why people who never had been bitten turn after they expire. most people who are bitten are gonna die most times due to damage done by the bites. The goverment dude at the CDC from season told Rick. Then Rick saw that it was true when Shane was stabbed. Plus the prisoner Shane killed in the woods came back to attack the 2 guys.

Yeah, the AUG fires a 5.56 NATO round, it's an Austrian gun and not typically found in America, however, The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement down in Florida uses the AUG so him obtaining one isn't completely unrealistic.

What are the guns laws in Georgia like? Perhaps there was just a redneck who happened go own one and it was added to the Woodbury Arsenal?

Maybe the National Guard had the weapon as a training weapon at their base? I know when I was going through infantry school, we had a few full auto AK's that were used to familiarize troops with.

all of those fully auotmatic weapons are considered class 3 weapons by federal law. legal to own with an atf background check, support from local police chief and or sheriff and a 200 dollar tax stamp.

on the show, i figure most were taken from police or us army armories. full auto weapons in civilian hands would be rare . the government armories where i would look in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

one thing that is driving me crazy is the crazy rick stuff...in the book he is alittle off but never to the point to disconnect from reality completely....and put the group in danger.....

Rick is always put the group in danger. Look back at all the stuff and deaths since he walked down the street in the city. He cant make a good judgement on anything.

I just assumed they got the automatic weapons from the various military units that fell to zombies. Hell, there was a tank that could have theoretically been commandeered, right?

Theoretically, yes. The problem is that tanks are hardly the most fuel efficient vehicles out there and M1s are amongst the worst of the lot getting gallons to the mile. So even if they could get it up and running keeping it fueled wouldn't be easy. Still, even without its guns it would be handy to have for just plowing over walkers without any worries about damage to the tank.

If that's all you're worried about, you hardly need a tank. Human bodies aren't that sturdy. You could plow them over with a decent sized pickup truck at many times the mileage - hook a snow plow up to the front and go to town!

There isn't much out there that doesn't get better mileage than an M1, they make Hummers look like Prius' by comparison.

Would a snow plow work that well against walkers? Wouldn't a snow just simply push walkers aside as opposed to actually plowing them over and squishing them?

Probably not many snow plows in Georgia. However, if you had the snow plow raised a little, it would decapitate the zombies at the feet rendering them significantly less mobile. Chances are, with enough speed, there will be some head traumas induced during the process as well.

Keep the plow off the ground and drive. Hit said Zombies, they get chopped by the legs and torso. Down drops the zombie to be ran over or hit once more by the plow. You can also slam them around with it.

But aren't the plows on most, if not all, snow plows angled to the side in order to push the snow off to the side of the road? I think that a conventional dozer blade would work better against walkers and dozers would be a lot more common in GA than a snow plow.

i make it boring?? really..I've so far said lets blow stuff and cause mass panic. i would have killed half my group already for being stupid and bringing harm to everyone else. Work as a group not make me play the clean up man on your issues. I come to bring my A game. Not play baby sitter for carl nor put up with stank lori. Oh you were the sheriff so you know best..Cool Story Bro

BTW snow plows are mostly stright blade on pickup trucks. you can turn the blade to angle or just have a "V" style instead.

Yeah, I was thinking more along these lines:

You'd probably just bowl them over with the plow, but that's fine, and it saves any damage to the front end of the pickup, and prevents a sticky mess in your front grill.
