The Walking Dead Season 3

Did anyone notice anything familiar about that head in the jar at the end?

Bicycle girl zombie head? Not the same literal one in the show, as Rick shot that one, but reused prosthetics?

There's never been a determination of what causes the walkers, the only 'viral load' might be the cesspool of bacteria and filth that is growing in the petri dish of the walker mouth and under it's nails. Get bit with something that nasty you're going to get some pretty bad infections pretty quick that are going to kill you. Once you're dead, you become a walker.

I don't think it's a virus contained in the saliva such that a bite will accelerate it. Rather, I think it's just basic infection (staph, strep, some other bacteria) followed by death that does it. I mean, walkers are decomposing corpses for pete's sake. Imagine what would happen if you cut your hand badly, and then stuck it into a rotting corpse here in the real world, then let that go untreated. I'd say it's entirely possible you'd die.

One thing that's interesting is in Shane's death and subsequent reanimation, and why that happens so quickly. I seem to recall there being some discussion of why that was, and how it had to do with his emotional state at the time. Not sure that explains anything clearly, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I considered that, but most of those diseases take much longer to kill you and are treatable. Given Jenner's explanation of how the disease spreads and the fact that he couldn't treat his wife, I have to make the assumption that there's more to it than a simple staph infection.

He said the disease itself causes death, once it enters the brain like meningitis... shutting down all brain function.

For some reason, something in a living human's body appears to be suppressing the existing disease until either bitten or killed.

Now, I don't recall whether or not Jenner said if it was viral or bacterial (I think he just used the term "disease"). I merely used the term "viral load" for lack of a better term.

Haven't read any of this thread as I just started watching season 1 on Netflix, but I like what I've seen so far! Only reason I waited this long was just in case it was canceled after season one...

They never identified what it was, or even if there was a biological cause. It's just not worth debating because it's never going to be answered. The rules are: all who die without severe brain trauma come back. Anyone bitten, will die in a period of a couple days and will come back. Immediate amputation of the bitten limb may or may not save the person's life.

Anything beyond that is a waste of time that could be spent on discussing how insanely evil the Governor is.

Ok guys, back online (barely) after the storm. Figured Id come back with a bang. I'm going to split the spoilers in sections below, incase some just want parts spoiled and not everything.

How many people die in episode 4
2 with 1 left unknown

Who dies....
T-Dog, and Lori.....Carol is left as the "unknown"

Who was spying on Carol in the yard....
It was Andrew the prisoner, he was the one Rick chased into the yard in episode 2

Quick run down of episode
They get the generators running in the prison which starts sounding the alarms, which bring tons of walkers. Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Axel, and Oscar search out for the generators. Hershel & Beth are locked in their jail cell for safety, while T-Dog and Carol are together, and Lori, Maggie, and carl are also grouped together.

T-Dog dies first by getting bit on the shoulder, he knows he's done but makes sure Carol is safe. The get to an area thats blocked by walkers, so T-Dog charges the pack so Carol can live. All I'll say about his death is, its pretty nasty.

Axel, Rick, Oscar, Daryl, and Andrew are together and Rick and Andrew start fighting. Oscar grabs a gun and has to decide who to shoot either Rick or Andrew. He shoots Andrew to show his loyalty to Rick. This in turn allows Oscar and Axel to join the group.

Last death is Lori, she goes into labor, long story short, there are complications. With no way of getting help or stopping the pregnancy, Lori realizes the baby has to be "cut" out of her. She gives Maggie the go ahead, and while she is removing the baby, Lori dies in the process. Carl decided he should be the one to put the bullet in his mom's head (most likely because he was fed up with being told to stay in the house *kidding). The end of the episode is everyone meeting back up and Rick realizing what happened, needless to say he loses it.

Can't see them doing that for a very looooong time. Now, his brother Merle, I could see getting killed off in dramatic fashion, turning to the good side, maybe end of season four.

I want to see a heroic sacrifice from Merle.

Well damn :(. Fond memories watching both shows. Messed up how they offed the Father on that show. But, then we got to see more of a young Janet Jackson and more Bookman.

Anyway, can't wait for Sunday. Hopefully more of the Governor's crazy "we found you too!"

Yeah those shows were sometimes silly but entertaining and Fred G. Sanford Lol, man I'm not reading those spoilers anymore Lol, but look forward to sundays show.
