The Walking Dead Season 3

Carl is in the right mind. That kid had the gun pointing him even after he told him to drop it. Plus he called his dad out on his miostakes. Why let more people they care about die than just pull the trigger n finish the business. Its a world of killed or be killed now. No more games for them. Plus it was him who went to clean up parts of the prison. went solo also to get medical supplies to save hershelys life when no one else would. The kid has grown up for from his dumb years. Ok the bar point was dumb. He learned to be a man from Shane & Boondock.

This is not even a father/son issue. Carl is becoming a man (earlier than he should have to, but the situation is what it is). His utter contempt for Rick is a destabilizing force in the group and he is setting himself up to become the next Shane. Rick will either deal with it now (while he does still have a shred of the parent/child thing in his favor or he will have to deal with it in a much harsher adult/adult manner later... like he did with Shane. If Rick is going to continue to lead this group, he absolutely cannot allow this to continue without dealing with it in one way or another.

I have more problem with Rick leaving the helpless backpacker to be eaten alive than Carl shooting an armed attacker. Take no prisoners. Good job Carl!

In my opinion, Carl did the right thing. The kid from Woodbury was told to drop his gun, not keep edging forward to hand it to Carl. If you've got two guns on you and you're told to drop the gun, someone who's not up to shenanigans should drop the weapon and step BACK, not move closer.

Now, that said... I am totally fed up with this show at this point. IF I keep watching, it will only be for Daryl.

People seem not to notice the sarcasm in my previous post. It's not at all surprising that the Woodbury group left. The governor is so out there now that he could easily just shoot them all so he doesn't have to protect them anymore.

I agree about Carl. He was totally in the right with that kid. They told him to drop the gun and instead of doing so, simply started edging towards Carl. The entire time all I could think was "be careful kid, he's getting closer and if he jumps you, you're an idiot". That being said he's definitely gonna be a problem. He said he's doing what needs to be done but he's not listening to Rick and doing stuff that could put them all at risk. I can honestly see Carl venturing out on his own next season and the governor capturing him to use as a hostage against the group. On top of that, Rick just rolled over when Carl was saying all that crap. I think Rick needs to let him have it verbally. Not beating the kid.

I'm surprised that all the people who have freaked about Michonne this season not having any depth not going on about the fact that she was crying over Andrea. I'd say they added some depth to her.

this had the potential to be the Exodus, part 2 (BSG) of TWD.

It was not.

This says two things to me. Either the real showdown with the governer will happen at the end of next season and from here to then, they will slot in a few of the missing story arcs from the prison OR.....the show will finally deviate from the comic book and become it's own thing. Which would be smart

Except the writing of the comic has been compelling and well thought out. The writing for the show is just getting worse.

I totally agree.

But maybe if they can shed the events of the comic and make their own path, we'll see an improvement

So you don't want to see the journey to DC in the show?

Re: Carl shooting the 'kid.'

I wonder if it was a conscious decision to have the audience think Hershel's version of the story was wrong. As said in this thread, most of us think it was justified because the 'kid' did not put his gun down as was instructed.

I thought something was going to happen. and well, I thought Hershel was a goner or Carl would be wounded again. Carl's shot wasn't completely unexpected - but, the actions of the 'kid' seemed very intended.

Due to Rick hearing Hershel's version of the story and the Carl/Rick dynamic being a little shaky - thing's are most likely afoot for the father and son for season 4.

Second to last. You forgot about Carol.
Oops.

Great point. Seemed somewhat out of character for Rick.

Great analogy with BSG.

The show deviated from the comic a long time ago. I'm still disappointed that season 1 didn't end with Carl gunning down Shane.

I think the show has followed the path of the comic except that they have muted all of the human vs. Human violence. They've chickened out at pretty much every opportunity.

Season 4, Episode 1 prediction. The fences will be repaired and that whole yard will be farmed. And the Governor will now be the leader of the canibal "Hunters" from the comics.

Spoilers in that picture, Andrea didn't die, The Governor's other eye heals up, Hershel grows his leg back and they all live together in the prison happily ever after.

Herschel is the new Andrea.

I don't think they could live at Woodbury, because of the horror that they dealt with there on a personal level. What Glenn and Maggie were out through, Andrea offing herself, Daryl finishing off zombie Merle, etc.
Too many bad memories.

Besides, I don't think they'll stay at the prison next season, either. Like stated before, the prison has been compromised, and too many ways to get in now.
A lot of bad memories there as well.

I'm wondering if the Governor and his lacky's are going to meet up with Randall's crew and come back for round two with a new army? We never found out anything else about who and what Randall's group were all about.

:thumbsup

the writing is just awful....

andrea was on the edge of becoming the new lori....she was very annoying...her chatting away and not picking up the pliers for a long period of time is a true statement on how moronic her character was on the tv show.....her suicide storyline, being mad at dale for saving her, shooting daryl, always trying to prove herself, becoming bunker mates with the governor, the way she treated a friend that kept her alive all winter for a man she barely knows....just annoying character....

another sign of poor writing....after she leaves woodberry, she kills zombies easily in the forest against a tree like it was slicing butter...and ur telling me she cant defend herself against zombie milton? hello...kick him back

What about "cuffed to a chair for who knows how many days, no food or water, ass and legs asleep from sitting too long" for a reason?
