The Ultimate X-Wing Pilot Thread

Can anyone tell me what X-Wing helmet kits are available?

Someone called 'Darthhair' makes them. Look on Etsy. Kits and completed helmets.

BTW, Does anyone know where I can get GOOD rebel helmet decals? I've seen some by Goldenarmor and some on eBay. They are pretty good. But are there other options? PLEASE HELP. Thanks.

Howdy, all. I'm just starting my X-Wing Pilot uniform. I ordered the flight suit from Singapore but was sorely disappointed (and a little embarrassed) to find their XXL suit didn't fit me. The length between the shoulder and groin was a problem as well as the chest/waist.

Does anyone know a good flight suit resource for us bigger aspiring pilots?

I've been looking recently to replace some of my own pilot flight suits. Have been checking around online and word of mouth. The flight suits from Custom-Props on eBay have a good reputation, and are where I'll be ordering one from by end of the calendar year. Likewise am replacing a pilot vest with one that I've recently ordered from him.

Custom-Props looks promising. I also found these guys, Far Away Creations, after I posted this. They go up to 3x and seem to have put a lot of research into the design of their suits. I shot them an email and I'm waiting to hear back.

Has anyone had experience with their flight suits, particularly, their larger sizes?

Basically, your vendor choices for X-Wing pilot flightsuits are: Faraway Creations, Custom-Props, Wampa Wear, and Costumebase/Hammerheart.

While some of the relatively-newer Chinese cosplay costume vendors (like Cosplaysky) are making some Star Wars costumes, I haven't thoroughly dug enough lately to see if they're doing the flight suits.

Apologies if this comes across as a brush-off, but keep researching the first four above on multiple forums and you'll find more than enough good and or bad history to make your decision.

No worries at all. I know I'm a newbie to this thing. I guess I was just surprised that I had to dig so much to find what I thought might be more common, especially with the anticipation for the new films.

I'm in a bit of a pinch for time so I had to make my call quick. I went with Far Away Creations as they had my size in stock and were super quick and friendly with their response. I also thought the detailing of their design was much nicer than the Costumebase suit I already got.

Thanks again for the tips!

Cosplaysky makes a quite popular flight suit for Imperials: TIE pilots, AT-AT, AT-ST drivers etc. That suit's pattern is the ESB/ROTJ pattern which is a bit different from the X-wing pilot's.

Far Away Creations' suits are a middle-point between the X-wing/ANH and ESB/ROTJ Imperial pattern. You would have to rip the seams of the pointed tab at the back of the neck, tuck it in and re-stitch. That's easy (and reversible).

I had the exact same problem. I ended ordering a 3xl from Wampa Wear (they don't have 2xl in stock) and it fit really well.
on a side not does anyone have any experience dealing with Gabe from Evolution Props? I am having a horrible go of it with him right now.

Thought I show this and see what people think.
I painted up a pilot helmet with a Disney theme. Not a big Disney fan but I wanted to make some fun of the Disney/Lucas thing. I hid little details in the helmet. Such as Mickey ear logos, on front and on sides (under the Victory 'V's, there are little red and yellow MIckey logos). And instead of the sliced onion decal on side, I put 'sliced castle' (Buena Vista Disney logo). Thought it looked clever.
I wanted it to look like a legitimate helmet, so I didn't keep it pristine and clean. It's weathered and battle worn. So when I do wear it, it looks pretty cool. The Disney theme is kinda subtle.
