All is in hand... I need to measure the iris and pupil next and then get the colour pattern right. I feel theres going to be 2 variations I will submit to them...

Whatever you settle upon Phil, please share that information here. I know you and Gino want the best-looking Yodas in the history of Yodas, but the rest of us would like ours to look halfway decent. ;)

Well here are the first pics of the hero artwork for the Yoda eyes... I actually took a pic of my own iris' and switched the colours around a bit. My eyes are actually green but the brown halo has been added :D

Hey, I knew I shouldn't have drank that 4-pack of Red Bull and got on here. I see now that it IS an HD screen grab, sorry.

I like the bottom one a bit... though the pupil seems too small IMO. (at least checked against that pic I had). Also the brown needs to extend out a touch further (though maybe if you expand that and they pupil proportionally, it'll look correct.)

I like the bottom eye too. I agree the pupil needs to be enlarged a little. And the brown area should extend at least 1/3 of the way out from the pupil diameter... but not too solid, continue with that burst shape so it's not subrtacting too much green area.

Question, for the sample to Lesley, could you remove the window reflections? She just needs to see the pattern, correct? IMO the reflections just get in the way of reference.

Yeah, I didn't mean that like "Chop-chop." I just thought others might want to see the artwork before it's submitted. Thanks.
 
That looks good, Cyb. If you look at your previous eyes you had some subtle darker brown flecks here and there around the edges of the burst shape. If you could add some of those that should put the finishing touch on it.

Agreed.

This is an interesting thread so far. I have little bits and pieces in my collection of Yoda but although not one of my favorite characters definately an appeal and respect for this work. The eye color as Tom posted needs to be a little darker but definately an improvement IMO :thumbsup

I believe that is pretty darned close. I'd be happy with that. The brown looks just about right, so does the pupil. :)

That looks nice.

I wanted to do a side-by-side comparison. I overlayed your artwork on top of the pic Tom posted.

I tried to match blur, saturation and angle as best I could. Below are the results:



This offers some clues on which areas of the eye artwork could be further modified.
 
Here are the latest 2 versions.. I've enhanced the brown area inside and broke up the green areas a bit more. One iris is warmer than the other but I think this is going to come down to taste.
