The New 5-25-77 Website

As many of you know, I and other members here did some studio scale replicas of Star Wars filming models for this upcoming film.

After a long but productive period of "gestation," I would like to present you all with the basic underpinnings of THE NEW 5-25-77 WEBSITE!

http://www.5-25-77.com/

After working closely with writer/director Patrick Read Johnson for the last two and a half months, I was able to deliver my basic design for hosting.

Even though the website is now live, it is still a work in progress. In the coming days and weeks, look for additional movie clips in areas such as "Pat's World" where still photos act as 'place holders' for now. You can see the movie trailer and a gallery of photos (screencaps) from the film. There will even be several "Easter Eggs" hidden here and there throughout the site (you can find some on the Home Page now)! There is also a News Page where you will find out the latest on the pending release of the film.

On behalf of Patrick Read Johnson and the entire production, we hope you enjoy the new web home of 5-25-77!

Sincerely,

Rick Ingalsbe

Hey Rick, i was wondering if those of us who sent in models (that's my SN tie fighter) get any mention in the credits or such. Not a big deal, just curious.
thanks

Mike,

First, I want to mention that your SN TIE gets an awesome closeup in the ILM scene! Your name, as well as SN's do appear in the credits under "Model Makers" with other names that include Greg Jein and Scott Alexander. We're in great company!

BTW, a fellow by the name of George has seen and approved all references to Star Wars in 5-25-77! I want to thank all of you who were able to contribute your models to the ILM scene! GREAT JOB!

As for when the film will be in theaters... hopefully soon. John Knoll has a team working on finishing the FX shots. Once complete the film will be marketed to distributors.

Cool, I for one will be happy to see this in the theater, in addition to the ILM stuff it just really looks like a good movie....

Many of you have followed along as I wrote the weekly, seven part article, "5-25-77: An Experience in Movie Making" over at Starshipbuilder.com. Then there was the continuation with "Post Production" on my website. Since the creation of the 5-25-77 website is the latest "chapter" in this movie making experience, I've just posted a short article on designing the movie website and how it came to be...

Site looks great Ringa!

I can relate to the Pat Johnson character/person quite a bit! I was 16 years old on 5-25-77 and had filmmaker dreams and created numerous, home produced 8mm SPFX homage films as well !

I did get to go to Hollywood after film school and work in the SPFX industry as a model maker at Brick Price Movie Miniatures/Wonderworks from the mid to late 80's and worked on Space Camp, The Abyss, and Masters of the Universe etc....I later wrote for Cinefex magazine--as I said I can relate to the film on many levels! I look forward to seeing the 5-25-77 film very much!

That's why I am so excited about this film... not just that I had something to do with it, but it is that so many of us here at RPF can relate to it! When I read the script, then saw the film for the first time, I thought how much this film is about me!

That is the great thing about Patrick making this film... he is 'one of us.' This is a film for Sci-Fi geeks / studio scale model fans BY a Sci-Fi geek / studio scale model professional. What's more, there is so much about the story that you really don't even have to be a fan of these things to enjoy the film.

As for your experiences, Pauleysolo, they are VERY impressive! I love to hear people's stories about their dreams coming true. It gives hope to those who have dreams. I felt so blessed by my experiences that I wanted to share it with everyone. I didn't know what it meant to 'love my work' until I found myself on a soundstage (I suppose "found myself" can be taken two ways here).

Thank you for your comments!

Rick

I agree completely Rick!!!
