The NERVE of some recasters

Thanks Rich for trying to straighten this out.

That straight on shot with the tilt of the top portion of the blaster looks nothing like my Sid... but maybe it is just me.

Hey, I appreciate it, and I think the photos you provided were the most constructive of this entire discussion.

and no I do not sell kits.

...will it have some flaws, most likely as it is hand made.

I will offer fully made models at a fair price and UNDER the current prices Sid asks for his build ups.

This what I do.

Thanks for the confirmation, Rich.
You see there above lies the rub.
People do not want flaws of any kind - and with all due respect a hand made item such as this shouldn't have flaws.
I believe if you took a poll, the majority of members would want a kit, cast well, and at a fair price over a build-up which may have flaws. This is why the Sidkit is so popular all of a sudden.

Really??

Can you do it at these prices?? Then I have a job for you Superman.

At any price?? Hardly.

"and with all due respect a hand made item such as this shouldn'thave flaws."

There is nothing man made that is. I was honest, there may be small flaws.

So hang me then.

Crikey man calm down, please.
No, I'm not from Krypton.
I didn't say 'at any price,' and I don't want to hang anyone. All I was trying to do was point out why
the sidkit is popular. If fills a gap left by you not offering kits, that's all.

Have a better one.

Howard.

i just wanted to chime in some on Rich's side.

i build a lot of resin models so i know the work involved and many years ago Rich came out as the Trek Phaser Guru to a lot of us back when crap phasers were all that were avaliable.

one can only imagine the hours he spent squinting at a tv screen trying to pick out details of pieces long before VHS recorders or DVD players were invented.

i owned one of Rich's C&S guns and as always i had to open it up to look inside.
the hand work and fitting in his pieces are hard to believe.

to get the fit and precision of his pieces has to be nerve wrecking.
i greatly admire the time he puts into his pieces.

and even a small imperfection in these pieces just shows that it is hand made, no two will be exactly the same.
the market for this type buildup may be getting smaller due to people wanting cheaper pieces and mass production but there will always be a market for hand built pieces that are made with love and dedication.

also having repaired a number od MR pieces i have seen the scary truth to cheaper mass production.

although Rich may come over a little rough on this discussion sometime i believe it is due to his pieces being like his kids that he created and nurtered to his high standards which we should understand.

cheers to your years of hard work for us fans Rich and hopefully many more. :thumbsup

I'd like to add that the grips and grip frame Sid is using are not from the hartford gun. Far as I can see, he's not using any hartford parts at all. I'm basing this on the pictures Rich took, and the ones posted on sid' website. If they don't match your work Rich, I don't know the source.

If I am not mistaken, Itay doesn't allow it's citizens to purchase firearms, does it? It would be hard for him to get the real gun parts to work from if this is the case, much easier to get Rich's. Maybe he figured "what's the difference". I dunno.

quick question. Was this the thread from which Rich wrote and promptly removed the statement that the owner of the WorldCon gun contacted him directly, and he then passed the request from the owner on to Karl to remove the pictures?? it was in a recent post, within the past day or two.

Cuz I cannot find that ANYWHERE in any thread, and i was about to do some carpet calling on that before it disappeared.

or is it in another thread??

Because the claim by Rich was VERY clear and very precise. Which means it is something that could be verified or denied. The part i could never figure out about the whole "BR Mafia" thing was this: If the owner genuinely wanted karls pictures removed, why not contact karl? Why contact Rich and Phil, and then ask them to run the clean up act??? Never sat well with me.

But it looks like its been deleted. Unless I'm looking in the wrong thread.

All that was in the original Worlcon Gun thread, though it's probably been repeated since.

All the drama started around Sept. 5 with Karl's post removing the photos:

BR Mafia.

It was about 4 days after this topic was started, which seems pretty fishy to me. :confused

It may be a little too late for honesty and damage control at this point, but all the edited posts in this topic now prevent an accurate timeline from being constructed and are equally suspicious.

I am really disappointed if what I think happened really did.
