The most useless people in Hollywood ?

I'm a stuntman. This statement is incorrect. There are several levels of specialist, stand in, photo double, who are separate from the various stunt doubles with special abilities and skill sets. We don't just do what an actor doesn't want to do. There are thousands of talented men and women who never ask for the glory. They love what they do just as much as anyone else in any other field, and to diminish what anyone does in any industry, or to perpetuate falsehoods on what they do seems unfair. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I can personally assure you that the stunt men and women in any of your favorite action films didn't just twirl pens and are a large reason that these ARE your favorite action films.

Someone who actually knows what they're tallking about. (y)thumbsup(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

I certainly wasn't trying to belittle the profession. That's what I was told by another individual who works as a stuntman as well. I apologize for any offense that was given. I think stuntmen and women are pretty frakking awesome (if not a little crazy sometimes). :)

Well, going back to where this thread started. If someone states that stuntmen/women are useless because contemporary actor and actresses are in excellent shape and are experts in martial arts, and acrobacies, etc, etc. Of course anybody would agree about their uselessness and senseless existence.
But then, If anyone is so dumb to believe that all these great Hollywood stars and starlettes perform all their stunts, and do it perfectly and in just one take, and without help from expert stunts and the use of movie tricks.
So, with such perfect creatures, what are those expendable and futile special effects technicians doing??
Actors do not need their help either to jump from one building to a running bus, or fly with a motorcycle over an exploding helicopter, etc...
God, they do not need this geeks and their computers when they can do it all by themselves.
Then I believe we can conclude that EVERYONE but the actors will become useless with time.

And who do I think are the most useless people in Hollywood and extend that to the whole movie industry???
The people who limit creativity, and the process of making new things and take some risks. Not these people who want to make movies following four basic formulas for the last 50 years. Nurturing the lack of imagination and originality, and doing remakes of films that were done 10 years, 20 years ago??!!
Please!! Do you think we are idiots??!! Of course you do...
"Oh,my . The remake of ....... is so good becuase it has better special effects!!!! ohhh"
Well, I don't want to go on and on, so yes for me the most useless people in Hollywood
and in life are.....
..... the EXECUTIVES.

Sorry, I forgot to say that I have always believed , since i was a kid that the Academy Awards were missing an Oscar to the best stunt in a major film.
These professionals are the men and women who have made all of us go like "ooohhhh!!!",
"Wowwww!!!", "********!!" etc, when watching films, from Ben-Hur, classic cowboy movies, and the original James Bond films, to name few examples.
So honestly, who are useless in Hollywood my friends???

That's a nice thing to say. We've been trying to get one for decades, but it's an uphill battle. What we do and what we contribute is just as much of a part of the equation at the talented make up and wardrobe artist, the directors of photography, sound and lighting artists, writes, directors and actors themselves. But again, we are mostly the silent folks who are happy to be working at what we love. Still, it would be nice to be recognized. We do have our own World Taurus Stunt Awards. Always a blast.

Right now, my pick is whoever it is at Paramount that's responsible for taking their big summer tentpole release and pushing it back to March of 2013 just 5 weeks before it was due to hit theaters! :angry

The Oscars themselves are pretty useless.
It used to be a little dinner where they'd pat themselves on the back.
Now it's a huge pointless bore. More often the choices are made by what's topical not by what was good. Votes are cast by popularity by people who never saw the picture.
A few years later it's WTF?
And certain films are never considered, because they are 'those type'.

And how many people make their list of favorite movies by whether they won oscars or not?

Agreed.
Maybe some technical people get some recognition but that's about it.

I'd say the acting teachers, they're "Method acting" has made movies terrible. I prefer the acting style of the 40s and 50s before this method silliness came about. Movie reviewers too and the ratings board.
