The Mandalorian: DarkSaber reference thread

The plug is a pretty glaring difference. I get it though-- making a consumer product with a detachable blade is going to ask for concessions that the real props don't have to make given that hero and stunt versions can be swapped.

Here's some higher res caps:

Since this thing was made purely for the show, from scratch, and the animation designs varies, I'd say that the stunt and hero are likely pretty similar, if not identical-- unless the stunt required some extra re-enforcing. may be a trick of the light, but it looks a little blockier in that first pic.

Pretty sure only 4 were made total, with the last one being rushed together and him being told “this is the LAST ONE take it easy”

Curious if that silver part sticking on the emitter is plastic or metal... wheels already turning

When do these ship?
On big bad toys it says june 2021 and on hasbro August...

I was on the fence on popping in this until I read that the hilt will be metal construction.

And with the quality that the black series has been producing lately, I'm very excited.

Side note, it seems that shipping is WAY cheaper on BBTS than Hasbro.

I ordered from BBTS.

Can't wait!

A shame Hasbro couldnt figure out how to do the offset blade at the emitter but I understand why that wouldnt be very secure.

Last post here as I have officially wrapped up the Darksaber and it is on to it's new home with my Reddit Secret Santa recipient. She indicated she was just getting into 3D printing and Cosplay and hoped to make a Bo-Katan suit. I thought it was only fitting that she had a Darksaber for her character. Threw together a custom stand with a plaque that reads "This is the way" in Aurebesh to make it easy to display while she works on her armor. Also threw in a Beskar Ingot since I have a few laying around from a previous prop job I did for a friend.

Now back to the life-sized Grogu I started modeling and modifying back in February before life and COVID derailed my plans for the year. My goal was to pattern and sew his cloak but also modify the Mando suit to be a small set of armor for him as a cute mash-up. Still need to wrap up the paint and remodel the eyelids (use epoxy putty and sculpt right on the print and then blend paint).
