The Hobbit - Weta Replicas / Collectibles - Launching Monday 1 OCtober

I like that ring, but I'm not diggin the TM on the inside of it

Yeah, that really ruins it for me. I have one of Jens Hansen's gold-plated silver One Ring's yet there is a very, very small dent in it that's enough to bother me. Saw the price for this and got excited till seeing the TM filling the inside. Keeping my old one instead.

@Weta: You should offer a "bundle" of that parchment maps ;) allong with a nice folder to collect and store them ;) And of course with a set price, lol :)

My Bilbo "Deed of Contract" already arrived in the mail today!

I'll post some pics ASAP...

darthwhitey, I look forward to seeing your pics and review of the contract.

I myself have received the higher end replica of Thror's map and I must say I am very happy with the purchase. I will have a full review and pics of it soon!

Brad, is this the WETA version? If so, I'm debating getting one, and would appreciate your review when you have the chance.

Are you planning on getting the lower priced (Nobel Collection) version as well?

I just got my One Ring without elvish inscription, and it's insanely cool. Seriously one of the best licensed prop replicas I've ever seen. I bought the size 11 (both because it's the size used in the movie and one that will fit me) and it's straight out of the screen. I can't recommend it enough.

That's nice to see they're shipping. Mine still says it's a preorder, and I ordered on the 4th. :( When did you order yours?

what about the TM on the inside?? is it as distracting as in the pics on the site?

Yikes, looks like I was lucky; I ordered it on the 2th.

Not nearly as distracting, no. It's still quite visible, but it's easily hidden (like my pic shows) Anyway, IMHO, it's a minor detail compared to the rest (for example, the weight has to be felt to be believed)

I.e. removable? :lol Hard to say. I can feel it with my fingertip, which isn't a good sign. It really looks like the elvish inscription if it had some, at least judging by the pictures. So it's most likely engraved.

Well, that's too bad. By the way, did your order update before they shipped? Did they send an email a week before hand, telling you they would need the money at this date?

Two days are gonna cost me three weeks... grr. I wish mine would just ship, or at least update.

Well yeah they sent me an email, but mine never was a pre-order... It was in-stock when I placed it. So it shipped pretty much the next day or something. I wish I hadn't deleted the emails I got.

Aww, geez, so there's a two week wait time after it ships? I guess I might get mine by my birthday... (11-27).

Well it does ship from New Zealand. :lol I live in Canada, so it's not bad at all, considering the price I paid for shipping.

I picked up Bilbo's Contract. Although it seems that they are being made to order, I was pleasantly surprised to see it shipped out from NZ within a week of payment.

I'm no expert on antique paper or calligraphy or any of that, but imo this is a pretty sweet replica. The paper has a great feel in the hand, stiff and heavy, almost leathery, and is appropriately aged and weathered. The hand switching is nicely done, with each cross-stitched seam sealed at the end with a bit of red wax. The calligraphy isn't hand-drawn, but at least it's supposedly an exact digital copy of the script on the filming prop (I guess we'll see when the movie comes out.)

RK..thanks for the detailed pics of the contract. I think it looks realy awesome.
Especially when it comes to the details, like the stiching and wax, as well the
aging :) Realy cool...

The only thing what i personaly do not like, are the paper edges. They simply don't "feel" or look right to me :confused
