Thanks much. I actually don't own Orcrist, but it was one of those swords when I got to looking at it I was like,"How is it put together?" However my Dwalin Axes from WETA get here this Friday. I'll post pics for everyone.

Also diggin' the Bofur mattocks. lol. Really good work. I was hoping WETA would do that one quarter, or Dwalin's Hammer, that'd be freakin' suh-weet!

Whether or not its worth the price I can't really answer. Depends on what you look for in props/replicas. I only paid $220 flat for mine which I failed to mention in the video^. I can tell you that of all my collection it stands out the most. Its very unique in its design and color scheme. Steel or Urethane, we've pretty much covered previously they're all "wall hangers" and have little to no functionality for the most part. I like mine honestly, don't regret purchasing it, wound up getting Dwalin's Axes because of it and Mr. Rae's input on UC's line up.
But, I don't want to tell you to spend your hard earned $ on it not knowing your interests and collecting habbits, on the chance you'd be disappointed with it.

Does this seem legit? I mean, a museum collection piece but no display or COA. I saw in one forum some had issues with bad tempering/warping of the blade so they were sent back and hung up when UC went bankrupt so some are saying Redford has acquired those. I've done alot with Redford but same sword I've seen for $1200+ before. Not sure if this is a lucky find or not. Thank you!
 
I bought one from Redford late last year. They are direct from UC when they went under. There were more swords made than display cases and that is why they only have the swords. My swords blade was fine. I'm really surprised they haven't sold out yet.

Do you like it? I'd like 1 real "combat efficient" Lord of the Rings piece and from what I read the museum collection pieces are it. I don't mind it not having the huge case or anything. I figured I'd hunt down the blue scabbard to go with it and keep it aside anyway. That or wait to see if UC announces any museum editions from The Hobbit. Like, I don't really care for Orcrist, but I'd probably get one if it was functional. Sucks not knowing what they're planning ... Idk to sit and save, or purchase whats available. :(
 
It looks like they still have a few left. Redford is offering them in their Amazon store too and the reviews are pretty good.

My question is....is this a HUGE step up from the "regular" UC Glamdring? What are the differences?

The "regular" Glamdring you'd buy is 420J2 Stainless steel, false edged, and has what we used to call "rat tail" tang construction. Its a (beautiful) wall hanger, for display only.
The Museum Collections are high carbon spring steel and come with an edge on them. A weathered finish and better quality wood for the handle to my understanding. Basically, you want a display piece, or do you want something you could, quite literally, go out and slay orcs with should they ever exist. :devil
So, materials and construction are the differences, but they are huge differences.
 
Actually, there is no wood in the grip of the museum collection Glamdring. The material upgrades on the sword include silver-plated fittings, real sapphires as accent gemstones, real leather on the grip covering, and a blade made from a high-carbon took steel that has been heat-treated for a Spring temper. HOWEVER, though the hilt is constructed to be more sturdy than most wall-hangers, the pommel interface is not adequately constructed for hard use or target cutting. It's made well for swinging around and could take light targets like pool noodles, but if you wanted a version that could slay orcs you would need the Master Swordsmith's Collection Glamdring or a custom from a Smith like John Lundemo or Fableblades. Yes I like it a lot. The blade does take a bit more up keep due to it being an actual carbon steel blade. Need to polish more often and make sure it's not handled with bare hands. One thing to also mention which I found out when I bought mine and compared with the UC regular edition is the engraving on the hilt is backwards from the prop, meaning they are on the opposite sides of where they should be. Might not be that big of a deal for some, but most prop collectors are sticklers for accuracy and this is a major difference. Still a very nice piece and one of my most favorite LOTR swords. Here it is in my Gandalf display.

Dude! I love. Your. Display. :eek That looks awesome. Regrettably my choices for this week were Glamdring or a pistol lol. And since I just got Dwalin's Axes in I've decided to pass on swords and axes, this time. Plus I know me, get the sword, gonna want a scabbard, so $400, blue scabbard, that are instock I see 100-130 dollars. Plus, I told myself I was gonna stick to the dwarven stuff.

It's just like Sting, there human scale. So they will be smaller in size. Your also comparing the Weta Balin mace which is Dwaven sized, I understand your frustration with this. That is also why it's good to stick to one line as UC, Noble and Weta might all be slightly different in scale and don't necessarily look good next to each other.
