Yeah, that was a fun one to figure out! (not). Basically the same as the other LOTR swords. The tang tapers down to a point and comes out the back end of the grip, then it is threaded, with a steel plate and nut locking it together. The pommel is fitted and epoxied over that. I wouldn't go chopping brush with it though. The grip had to be something that could be polished to remove the mold parting lines without melting, so we had to use an acrylic composite. The material is so thin at the end of the grip, it will probably shatter with a lot of stress on the tang. If we do a Museum Collection version, something different will have to be done there.
Thanks much. I actually don't own Orcrist, but it was one of those swords when I got to looking at it I was like,"How is it put together?" However my Dwalin Axes from WETA get here this Friday. I'll post pics for everyone.
Also diggin' the Bofur mattocks. lol. Really good work. I was hoping WETA would do that one quarter, or Dwalin's Hammer, that'd be freakin' suh-weet!
