The HASBRO/STAR WARS Appreciation Thread

So I guess the correct one with big wings is "Legacy Collection"...

While we're on the subject, which is the best X-wing to get? Is it still the old Red 2?

k

Next question. Have there been any changes made to the Hasbro TIE Bomber like the changes that have been made over the years to their TIE Fighter/Interceptor?

To my knowledge theres only the version with the old X-1 wings. Pretty nice design, except the wings. Some parts are made out of rubbery soft plastic though. Started to mod one, but the wings have big issues, like the solar panels. I guess Ill take it up one day.

I have been a SW collector for a very long time. I got out of the "toy" thing due to there just being way to much and never seeing an end to it all.

Well....that ended with Hasbro's turn-around with all the nice new sculpts. The new figures are more than impressive. The movement and accuracy is amazing. I have always been one not to open figures or vehicles...but you only live once! They are TO nice NOT to open and display!

I purchased the new AT-AT (amazing) and had to crank it up a bit. Best toy line I have seen in a very long time! The vintage packaging did me over. Now I want all the new vintage packaged stuff. Just have to buy 2 of everything now dammit!

Here is my weather job that I have been working on the new AT-AT.

Still a work in progress.

I am also working on a paint job for mine. XXXCRIMSON, may I ask how you did all the little black lines on yours? Did you just free hand them with a brush or is there some other trick to it?

EVO3 on this forum showed me the technique. I pick up a couple of tubes of acrylic paint at Hobby Lobby. Choose colors that suit you best for what you are trying to achieve.

With a fine brush I painted over all the indented lines, then rubbed the excess off with cotton swabs. You can also get a very cool look by "working" the cotton over certain areas. These acrylics take some time to dry, so if you want to remove what you applied, it can be done so easily as long as you do it during your initial application. Add a small amount of water to your cotton for additional affects.

I'm wanting to add a small amount of snow to the AT-AT but I'm still looking for the right product to use for this. I will be posting some finished pics soon.

I took my old vintage Falcon and converted it to be in scale with the Action Fleet figures that were out in the early 90s. I’m still trying to find the right way to light the engines and cockpit. After seeing the Legacy Falcon that someone is modifying I regret not slimming the sidewalls. Yes, I took a ton of creative license with the layout but I still feel it captures the interior layout.

amazing:lovethis is the sweetest milennium falcon, I´ve ever seen!!!

Some great stuff here. Certainly the later offerings from Hasbro are easier to do something with.

I have a B-Wing which i am trying to convert but its a long haul i attack between projects.

Does anyone know if Rebelscum or another website has a page that compares the original Hasbro toys to the current releases and how the current ones compare to their studio scale bretheren?

I think I read that the Imperial Shuttle was pretty close to SS and that the new Slave 1 is as well, but don't count that as 100% true. Just recalling what I have read on here. Even if not completely studio scale, they make awesome (and large) pieces when converted.

I was not aware that there was a new Slave1, does anybody have it, and if so can you post pics. Thanks

Nice job with your Falcon, Darkart99! : ) I can see the effort you put into this! Spacemunkie great weathering on your ship!

Joe,

the new slave 1 is a clone wars product in clone wars deco. It is available at Toys'R'Us and I hope that within the next year it's re-released as an ESB version which I would just have to buy.
