The Grand Budapest Hotel Props

Okay guys, I have finally finished the throat slitter! I have bought a straight razor from the 40's, so it could look used and +, the blade was not so sharp! So no accidents :p

So these are the items I have used to make the throat slitter:

After a lot of sanding, and struggle to remove the pins from the blade, I started to cut the blade to make this knife look, and surprisingly, the blade was super easy to break haha...

And voilà :) Let me know what you think!

Thanks! I am super pleased how it turned out! Never thought I could work wood (a bit xD).

And yup! it was! Straight razors are going for quite a lot in general, but manage to grab this one for a bit cheaper, which is good :p Really inexpensive prop in the end :thumbsup Probably a total of £16...

Emma, "Bring out the throat slitter"!! great job. If you want to give that used look, just fuzz up some of those nice string, dont forget to add some Mendl's frosting on the edge.

Any guess on actual key length, I found a antique key seller on ebay with reasonable prices. I am most likely gonna change to the correct style key. I just want to double confirm the size. Or the size of the key chain?

Good call, I went in PS and made the black name tag part 1" wide and the key was slightly over 2.5"

Do you have a link for perfume bottle you found?

Yes, well I bought it. I received it today, and manage to remove the cap.

I had it for much much cheaper than stated though, I gave her my price and she accepted :p

The cap is the best I found on the Internet, and is made of metal I believe, except for the neck which is made of copper but has a silver colour... It is slightly smaller than expected but it looks good overall!
I have found another cap that could do it, I will see when I will receive it and tell you guys if it's worth it (quality doesn't look too good and it doesn't have an atomizer).

There's another one otherwise I found but it's in a gold colour:

Make Believe, that is great work with pink foam! I though you machined a piece of steel or something!

Emma, pink foam is insulation board or foam, you can get it at some hardware stores, but the big ones, here in the states its called home depot. the sheets are usually about 2" thick. you can cut it with a tool called a hot wire or with an electric turkey/meat cutter.

Great work everyone. I saw this thread and thought, "If anyone should be posting in here, it's Abe."I want to see that painting get finished.

Thanks mate. Gonna tell you a secret: it's not pink foam, it's clay (cheaper, smaller and easier to work with).
The paint job it's what makes the difference :D

That looks great! I was thinking of making it too, but not sure how to start this xD
well done!

Merci, Emma

Even though it wasn't in the film I'd like to see a luggage sticker for the hotel as those were so commonly given out by hotels and vacation destinations at that time.

Could you provide an example? The hotel had a logo in the movie, so I'm sure they would be using just the main logo for it ? ^^

The luggage sticker,Its a great idea, Emma type in "european hotel luggage sticker" on google image and you can get what their talkjng about. It would be cool to do them for all the Cross Keys Hotels on an old piece of luggage
