The Falcon & Winter Soldier (tv series)

I guess I never thought about them getting paid. I wonder if it was similar to being in the military. They had a huge Avengers facility so housing, food, etc but without money, what is keeping them there?

Also Vision was paid in Bit Coin. He had a card swiper installed on his body, but you’re going to have to use your imagination

Maybe, but if the US military is the same as the UK's, then unmarried soldiers accommodation etc is deducted from their pay at source, so it is all still paid for by them but at a highly reduced rate.

Steve may have had a lot of back pay from the Army over the 70 years :)

Could be that they had had a company fund they could draw from via Stark, or personal annuities.

It’s going to be hard not to root for Kurt Russell’s son!
I thought this was Kurt Russell's son? :p

As a side note to whose paying them, who is doing the R&D for the Avengers now? I don't really see Banner as a gadget guy. I doubt it is Pym as much as he disliked Stark.
Right now it is nobody. I think that was the point behind the scene where Sam is working with the soldering iron. There's no foreseeable tech support or R&D until Reed Richard's steps in the picture.

Don’t forget about Peter Parker. Happy gave him some Stark tech and he built a whole new suit. Of course he did have some stuff already in advance from the work from Tony, but he still created it and put it all together.

Tony left behind all of Stark Industries, which is presumably still being run by Pepper, so I doubt the Avengers are left high and dry, but yeah, it’s definitely a transition period that has probably left a lot of the Avengers in an uncertain position. The blip and not being in existence for 5 years is probably a much bigger factor on their personal lives than the loss of Stark.

I only made it to the halfway point of season two of AoS. I have no idea what happened after the one guy got turned into stone saving some girl..

Can you tell I was only passively interested in it???

As for Sam trying to get a loan, obviously they have to pay these guys some kind of stipend, even if it just came from Tony, which I could see him doing towards the end. He makes a comment about having govt. contracts, so is his money just under the radar so it doesn't show up for credit purposes?

I think it was more a statement about how bankers are just d*cks. Like, "yeah we know you're a war hero and we love you, but screw you."
This reminds me of an interesting comment made by a veteran on Tiktok. He remarked that Falcon's experience rang true for him, that people are always eager to thank veterans for their service and get a selfie with them but rarely provide any real help.

I'm sure I am not as well versed in Captain America shield history as most of you, so someone explain to me what those 5 little dashes (indentions?) in the silver stripe of the shield are? I don't recall ever seeing these before. They are very noticeable in this show. Were they always there?

They definitely look new to me

Considering the original shield was destroyed in Endgame, I'm going to guess that T'Challa had a new one made for Cap.

Yeah, the prop makers definitely added the line to distinguish the new shield from the destroyed original, the question is if anyone in universe will ever acknowledge it.

The Shield that Sam has is the one that Old Cap gave him at the end of Endgame. The original one was destroyed by Thanos, I'm not sure anyone has definitively said where Old Cap got the shield he had brought with him.
Right. Which I'm pretty sure was a new one that T'Challa made for him. I don't know where else they would have gotten that amount of vibranium, much less the ability to effectively work it into a shield that would behave like the original...
