The Definitive Hawkeye "Avengers" Costume Thread

We need to get someone to really break this down right who can sew. Most of it could be done in Cordura pretty well. Where would we post for a willing stitch mavens?

You rang? :) This is fairly quick, because I have an Elizabethan court gown that needs to be done in eight days. :: prays to the gods of cosplay::

Yes, the bulk is the same Cordura from the vest. The micro stripe used is the same as the pants fabric. It appears that the sides and black areas of the sleeves are made of neoprene. The maroon color in the sleeves is harder to discern; it's almost certainly some type of athletic fabric, but I can't place any with that type of micro stripe. I recall a post up-thread from someone who said they found a good match for it though. There is a back vent with a zipper which reveals a kick pleat made of black mesh. Trim (including ribbing) appears to be the same as the original vest. I'm still trying to figure out the cuffs.

If you want a head-start on constructing it, the big pattern companies all have a cossack pattern in their costume collections that will give you the basic shape of the garment. Though we don't see it in the film, it is most certainly a vest over the long sleeve shirt we see above. A well-fitting long sleeve tee can have the costume sleeves attached (and the original sleeves can be used to pattern new ones) if you don't want to make an entire shirt that won't be seen.

I follow this thread, so if anyone has any questions I'll see them. (Though perhaps not in the next few days...)

Lunaris, I may commission you on this one! :D

Here are a series of photos proving your "shirt and tunic" theory.

I would rather dedicate myself to doing my Fraction Hawkeye on my own and commission a true tailor to do this one. I need 11 jobs and two or three GREAT voice over gigs fast!

Let's keep talking! Thank you Lunaris!

Hey everyone. I've been following this thread for a long time. I did a Hawkeye with my cosplay group for the Age of Ultron premiere. We went to a few theaters in our area. I just came back to this recently to check for new posts, and thought I'd also post pictures of mine. I still have some work to do on the bow...there are obvious things missing. I ended up running out of time before the movie, and so it's currently unfinished.

Jeremy Renner is actually coming to Wizard World Chicago in August. I have, of course, spent many US Dollars to purchase a photo op ticket :D

Aside from needing a few small repairs, my costume is about as perfect as I can make it. My attempt at a quiver build however, is a whole 'nother matter. I gotta have a quiver for this and I am an absolute disaster at props!

I know at least one of you has 3D print plans and/or has printed an AOU quiver (widescreen? KenKenobi2? someone else?) Can one of you point me in the right direction to acquire this? I have just over one month until I need it. I will happily trade my sewing skills!

The 3D printer files are available (free of charge) on GRABCAD (just search for 'hawkeye quiver' on the website). I do have many of the parts already printed off, but they are not 100%, but may help you out.

I'm working on trying to make a functional Hawkeye quiver can anyone give me any suggestions plz keep in mind I don't have a 3d printer and I honestly don't want to ask someone else to print it for me I was thinking of making some kind or template out of cardboard then mayb using some fiberglass mesh and then that fiberglass in a can stuff but I don't kno any dimensions for the quiver and as I said I want it to b functional I hunt and do archery as a hobby and just bought a new bow and need a nice quiver and thought it would b cool to have a hawkeye quiver if possible

Although the design of the bow does looklike a folding bow (because it look like it has hinges similar to the Hoyt Buffalo) I don't recall seeing it folded up in the film?

I have got a Gamemaster riser - just haven't got round to finishing the rest.

The hinges are the same as the ones on his Hoyt buffalo. They also added a different grip to the bow which is custom made, it allowed him to shoot off of both sides of the riser. as well as an laser sight which also want used and something in the stabilizer hole all of which wasn't shown being used. The riser is a maroon color with some type of carbon design.

Also it is odd that they even included the hinges if it isn't even shown folding. The hot toys figure even comes with a folding bow, in one of the bts scenes on youtube showing the props of the film the prop master shows the buffalo and gamemaster 2 bows from the film both are folded.

Here's a couple of screen shots of the bow.

The colour pattern looks more camo than carbon (the toy looks carbon).
What gets me about the hinges is that the main hinges work backwards to the design - they work the wrong way (was the same in the first film).
I will make my bow so the hinges are false (just for show) so the bow works properly for costume events.

Finally got my AOU finished. Still waiting to finish new quiver and bow. I now know how Im going to mount the quiver. Didn't have enough time before these pics from the con. Took me a while to get the accurate fabrics but I finally found them. Here you go. Thoughts.....

Love your work - are you going to mount the quiver to the vest or on a separate harness?

Earth magnets are the key. Heavy duty rare earth magnets. Im going to sew a little pockets on the inside of the tunic then onto the corresponding location on the quiver. Thoughts.
