The Definitive Hawkeye "Avengers" Costume Thread

Re: The Definitive Hawkeye "Avengers" Costume Thread

I'm using coroplast for the base layer, which I'll skin with wonderflex to stabilize it and give it a nice tough shell. I'm using sheets of vinyl auto wrap in brushed aluminum and black carbon fiber to cover. Rather than fletch three dozen dowels, I'm using inexpensive plastic crossbow bolts to serve as the top portion of the arrow with painted dowels below. Arrowheads will probably be molded from Friendly Plastic. Betweein the materials and skeletal-like structure, the whole rig should be pretty lightweight.

The best idea I've had so far is to use two long, flat money clips and incorporate them into the quiver structure (a slit on the back side through the shell, secured with E6000 inside). One low, to clip onto the strap, the other at a height to clip on to a belt loop type thing or buttonhole sewn discretely onto the vest back. It's a good idea in theory at least.

Besides the reliable Google search (which dosn't have much right now), I'm actually using product photos from the Hot Toys 1/6 scale Hawkeye figure. They have an amazing attention to detail at Hot Toys; I actually used their older Hawkeye figure as a reference for the back of my vest.

I didn't see your reply before I posted - your suggestion sounds similar to mine, so it makes perfect sense!

Hi everyone. Finally remembered my log in after a long time not being on here.

I finished a rush build of Hawkeye back in 2012 (built in four days around a house move). I know I can do much better so have started on working on replacing it. This thread had been a huge help so thank you.

I do have a couple of questions regarding the 3D printing especially for the quiver. Where do you get the quiver printed? How much would it roughly cost?

Thank you for any help.

My costume below. Everything is scratch built except the boots. I really want to remake it as it was such a rush build. I also did it in fabrics I had to hand so it is totally wrong. Really would love to improve upon it and make it in much better fabrics.

I'm also working on the Age of Ultron jacket.

Hi EJ,
long time - no speak. I hope you're well.
I was contracted by someone else who'd been quoted £500 for the printed parts, which I think is an extortionate amount.
I'm considering making the quiver parts for people. The spine would be aluminium extrusion/box section and the other parts would be 3D printed.
I only have a 'hobby' 3D pirnter, but a good quality one - it's a Leapfrog Creatr HS.
Contact me if this is of interest to you.

Re: The Definitive Hawkeye "Avengers" Costume Thread

Has the new Hoyt Gamemaster II Age Of Ultron got a dark purple texture on the riser or not? I've seen it on the Hot Toys replica and some promo pics but when I watched the film a week ago, I couldn't see any purple paint job on at at all. I may have just missed it because of the pace of the film, so has anyone else seen it?

Also, has the new bow got the old hinge mechanism on the limbs? I didn't see it collapse at all during the movie and although again the hinges were in the Hot Toys replica and the promo pics, I don't recall seeing them in the film. I'm going to watch the film again this weekend, so I'll try and have another look.

Actually ignore my last post. I just watched a video from Marvel's YouTube channel that showed Hawkeye on set with a purple risered bow.

it may just be me but has anyone found out how hawkeye wears his quiver?

In Avengers (Avengers Assemble - as its called in the UK) it appears to be fitted to a leather/material harness which attaches (probably velcro) over the shoulders and also a lower strap connected to the side buckles near the ribs. I do something similar to this to hold mine on.

I have an different idea for the AOU though. A trouser braces type harness under the coat with 2 pins which poke through holes in the jacket and align with slots in the quiver spine.

Where did you order the buckles from ? There are LOTS of them out there! Thanks!

Hi Ken, they came from a local motor bike clothing supplier - spare buckles. I could only get black ones, so I had to paint them silver.
Google or ebay would be you best option (imo). They did take quite a bit of searching in the UK. There are many similar and none of them are cheap.

Thanks for the info Widescreen. I have been looking for a while now for them. Awesome boots by the way. I didnt notice them last year at dragon con. Great job on them. Cant wait to see what you are putting together. Here are some shots of my AOU version 1.0 for the AOU premiere last week. Still working on finding the accurate fabric. In my attached pic can anyone seem to ID the lined fabric for the bulk of his outer tunic. It is the one cut on the bias. Please help. ;)

Anakinos - I can't help you there. I cheated & bought the jacket from a eBay seller in Pakistan. I cut the sleeves off & fitted the arm details to an undershirt.

BTW - Cute Black Widow. lol

The last pic is my favourite - it's like Jeremy is saying 'Oh - is that all you want me to do'

Hello all! This is my first post on this forum, but I am working on a Hawkeye costume and I found this thread! Today I bought a copy of "The Art of Marvel's Age of Ultron" and I don't know if it would be helpful, but I could try to scan some of the images from it. It has the art for his costume, as well as diagrams of the quiver and his arrows.

We need to get someone to really break this down right who can sew. Most of it could be done in Cordura pretty well. Where would we post for a willing stitch mavens?
