The Dark Knight Rises (Post-release)

I think they were just covered with makeup. Here's a behind the scenes shot where they are absent:

Saw it again for a 2nd time yesterday and enjoyed it just as much as the first time around. Nolan has made one of the best movie trilogies ever as far as I'm concerned and I feel sorry for the next person that tries to bring Batman to the big screen.

Damn, I really REALLY wanted to love this movie, but it's been about 6 hours since I left the theater and I've spent the entire time trying to convince myself that I liked it--but I've finally come to the conclusion that not only did I not like it, I really REALLY did not like it.

I remember when I first saw Batman Begins. I was like "finally someone is doing Batman right!"...And The Dark Knight is, without a doubt, a modern cinematic masterpiece. But this movie IMHO was a waste of time. Why was this film even billed as a Batman movie? In this almost three hour movie, Batman is on screen for about what, twelve minutes? This movie should have been called "Jim Gordon Rises" or " Commisioner Gordon and some other cop battle Bane (don't blink or you will miss a brief cameo appearance of Batman)!"

As someone stated before, he can't fix a bad knee in 8 years but he can fix a broken back because some body punches his vertebrae and he does some sit ups?...What was Selina Kyle's point of being in this movie? She just shows up and doesn't really do anything....There are more shots of the Batsuit in it's glass case than there are of Bruce actually in it....Joseph Gordon Levitt should have top billing in this movie--he has more screen time than Bale..

Oh God, the list just goes on and on..They send EVERY cop in the city underground all at the same time? WTF?....Why do the jump when climbing out of the pit? Why not just keep climbing the wall you were already on?....I couldn't understand 90% of Bane's dialogue--or Batman's, for that matter...Who did Bane's voice? Was it Jim Carrey doing his Grinch's bad Sean Connery impersonation?....The "bat" is a hovercraft yet it can outrun guided missles?..give me a friggin' break!!...I can't remember, did he even deploy the cape in this movie? I blinked a couple of times, I must have missed it.

I'm sorry, but after my first viewing, my opinion of this movie is that it was awful!!...Maybe that opinion will change for me after it comes out on DVD/Blu-ray. I will definately give it a few more trys, maybe I will like it better after multiple viewings..Maybe I just didn't get it.

maybe in the scenes with all the water it was hard to keep them hidden 100% of the time and had to be "cleaned up" digitally afterwards...

I've read several places where they mention CGI on his arms but nothing from Nolan or anything solid so it may just be a rumor.

I do find it odd that the Dark Knight Rises plot mirrored the Avengers plot in a lot of ways. The biggest, most notable being the "nuclear/clean energy" device having been invented by a billionaire superhero being used with evil intentions.

LOL! HISHE finally released their: How The Dark Knight Rises Should Have Ended a couple of days ago on youtube...

How The Dark Knight Rises Should Have Ended

"Sorry Bruce made you cry~!!"

I have to say, when he had those sleep darts at the end, I was very irritated that he just fought possibly for the sake of his ego.

Overall the movie was great, there was a great parallel between the disappointment The Batman feels upon finding out that the Court of Owls, not he, owns Gotham, and the ease of Bane's successes.

But that Robin stunt at the end was just desperate fan service..
so many names he could've had to allude to robin and yet they went for the easy gag.

Still though, definitely my favorite of the trilogy.

I don't know that I'd say it's "fan service" exactly. I mean, if it was fan service, when she said "You should use your real name..." it would've been followed up by something like "...Mr. Grayson/Todd/Drake." Why? Because ONLY the hardcore fans would get that. You think the average movie-goer knows any of those names? Of course not. They know "Batman and Robin." Batman they know to be Bruce Wayne. Robin is...uh....Robin, right? Robin something...

So, to me, that was probably the only way to really get that across effectively without having it sail straight over the bulk of moviegoers heads.

Don't get me wrong. I agree with you. I was expecting "Richard Grayson" as his actual legal name, and I would've preferred it, but I do get why they went the other direction.

I'm curious, are those really Tom Hardy's tattoos, and they covered them up? I dont know why but I'm surprised he has them if that's the case. I thought maybe Nolan added them for Bane and then removed them at some point.

Your View: Dark Knight Rises ending *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

Hi Guys,

I was wondering; what did you guys think of the ending of the Dark Knight Rises? I thought while not explaining everything (as to leave some stuff for the imagination) I think they took a short way out and just finished at epic series of films with a fairy mediocre ending. With out revealing too much I like the fact of what happened and the result. But I feel it was a bit of a cop out in the way they got there. I've tried to limit spoilers for those of you that haven't seen it yet!

What are your views?

I love how it ended. Have put the scene from Waynes grave till TDKR credit on many, many times just to chase that original viewing. For mine, perfect.
