The Dark Knight Rises (Post-release)

Does anyone remember if they refer to Ra's as "Raysh" or "Raz" in DKR? Because I remember it bothering me that they were saying "Raz" in Begins. I've always pronounced it as "Raysh" from Batman The Animated Series pronunciation.

I always pronounced Ra’s al Ghul the same way you did until Nolan's Batman. They pronounce it as "raz" for some reason.

Just saw it and thoroughly approved. The only significant gripe was that some of the score and sound effects muddied the dialogue at times, but I was also seeing it in IMAX, so it could be that a normal theater might not be as much a problem.

I loved the cameos, and the references to the different comics. And Tom Hardy did such a good job (especially given the handicap of not showing much of his face at all) that I can forgive him for "ST Nemesis" though admittedly I reckon he did the best he could with what he was given.

And yeah, Michael Caine was superb, again.

Just saw it, very pleased, great ending, great acting by all. I love Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon. I especially loved the Man of Steel teaser during the previews, can't wait for that! ******SPOILER ALERT*******My biggest gripe about this movie, Marion Cotillard's death scene, probably the worst death scene I have ever seen. God was that cheesy, the slow breathing, slow talking, quick head drop, I actually laughed out loud when that happened.

I so wish Nolan would do another and start off right where this ended.

Saw it tonight and liked it a lot. A couple of points...

1. Every freakin' person in this movie knew that Bruce Wayne was Batman. How did Bane find out? Blake??

2. Loved Selina Kyle. Her and JGL were the best parts of the movie for me.

3. Since when did Bruce become a mechanical genius? This isn't Tony Stark or even Peter Parker we're talking about. Bruce is the world's greatest detective, but I doubt he could have fixed "the Bat's" autopilot on his own.

4. How did the buried cops survive for 5 months underground? Who kept 3000 cops fed and hydrated?

5. If I had dropped a nuclear bomb 6 ft onto solid concrete out of the back of a truck 2 minutes before it went into meltdown, I'm pretty sure it would have went off. Just sayin'...

6. Did Bruce Wayne have a Bat-Teleporter? How'd he get back into Gotham?

7. The Bane of the first 160 minutes of the movie was not the same Bane of the last 15 minutes. The way he went out was pretty cheap IMO.

Overall, I liked the film a lot and will see it again. Just some flaws kept it from being a great movie.

I saw Dark Knight Rises just a little while ago. I don't care much for Nolan's movies, but the man does have way to get a good performance from some of his actors.

I had no idea I would've left this movie thinking Anne Hatheway would've been that good as Catwoman. She just hit all the marks in her performance even if the writers didn't know what they were doing with her character.

Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Joseph Gordon-Levitt did really well in their roles as well. Although, I don't think the script really suited them at all - Gordon's amazing recovery, Caine's abandoning Bruce Wayne and Blake throwing away his badge just seemed odd and very out of place.

Like the other Nolan films, I'm at a loss why people are so in love with this film... I think it's average at best and there are parts of it I just don't like at all.

-Batman disappearing for 8 years. Ugh, this was touched on earlier.

-Bane's voice evidently that mask has a built in microphone and the PA and speakers are just off screen at any time.

-Just how the US government allows a potential nuclear device to fall into terrorists hands is just silly to think. I know Wayne Enterprises built it, but if we know Iran has nuclear capabilities - they had to know someone at Wayne had access as well. This loophole was just silly - I know it's "fusion" or whatever... but this was just bad plotting.

-Evidently, Gotham became a DMZ for 9 months. Yup, that's believable. The Pres says we don't bargain with terrorists but let's them keep one of the country's largest city's?

-Not only does Wayne have a fusion capable nuclear bomb... but Bruce Wayne has his own teleporter to get him from 'the pit' back to Gotham. Maybe he just beamed up to the JLA satellite, got a change of clothes and beamed down to Gotham.

-John Blake figuring out Bruce was Bats was just silly... especially, when it appeared that Gordon didn't know.

There were tons of weird bits with this movie that just didn't sit right with me. Seemed oddly edited or something... like it jumped around oddly, especially towards the end.

The Avengers is still the movie of the year - and the top superhero movie in my book!

Very interesting. Just watched Batman Begins and The Dark Knight today after seeing the Dark Knight Rises last night. While I enjoyed TDKR and thought it was a fitting end to the trilogy, I had a number of issues with it. However, I also had a number of issues with TDK (always thought Batman Begins was brilliant), until I watched it again today. I don't know if it is because I was watching it and comparing it to TDKR or what, but on this viewing, the Dark Knight stood out as an absolutely amazing film. I always thought 2-face's story shouldn't have been mixed with the Joker story and I always thought that 90% of the love for Heath Ledger's performance was due to sympathy for his death. I was wrong on both counts. While not a perfect movie, I think the Dark Knight was amazing, was better written than Rises, had much better performances than Rises and had much more drama than Rises. Doesn't mean Rises was worthless, but for me, watching them back to back, there is really no comparison.

I'll still be the odd man out and say Begins is still my favorite of the three, TDK and TKDR were very good in there own right but there's just something about Begins.
Regardless everyone that is a Batman fan should see this movie as it is one of the best and wraps it up just about perfect. Stop analyzing and start enjoying. ;)

That is just it. I felt no emotional bond to this movie. The characters besides Alfred (Caine) did not move me. I loved the first 2 but left unfulfilled with this one. I felt leaving as if they were only setting up a new movie.

***Spoiler*** The death of Bane and Talia were extremely boring

To start off, I'm not a big Batman fan. I prefer Marvel to DC. I think their characters are more real. Still, the Nolan Batman movies have been very compelling. I'm not sure why some are not liking this one, because it got to me more than the others.

Batman was broken down to the ground! He was a real underdog. By the time he was fighting Bane for the second time, after being beaten earlier and severely injured, I found myself fighting the urge to scream out across the theatre, "Come on Batman, you can do it! Kick his *****!"

Anne Hathaway is insanely hot.

Bane's voice surprised me at first, but I really liked it.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a great actor. Michael Caine was absolutely OUTSTANDING in every word he spoke.

The ending was perfect. I desperately want another in this series. It's already taking place in my brain. I guess that is what good movies should do, inspire your imagination.

I don't see how it could have ended any better.

Saw it tonight and liked it a lot. A couple of points...

1. Every freakin' person in this movie knew that Bruce Wayne was Batman. How did Bane find out? Blake??

I'd assume from Talia.

3. Since when did Bruce become a mechanical genius? This isn't Tony Stark or even Peter Parker we're talking about. Bruce is the world's greatest detective, but I doubt he could have fixed "the Bat's" autopilot on his own.

In the comics at one point he was the one to build all the gadgets before they came up with the pinching them from his company bit. The films didn't really demonstrate it, but he's very good at chemistry and engineering.

4. How did the buried cops survive for 5 months underground? Who kept 3000 cops fed and hydrated?

I recall a scene of food being lowered into the underground by Bane's men. It's the sanitation I don't think was addressed

5. If I had dropped a nuclear bomb 6 ft onto solid concrete out of the back of a truck 2 minutes before it went into meltdown, I'm pretty sure it would have went off. Just sayin'...

I don't have a clue about how nukes detonate, but I'd figure they'd be designed so as not to detonate from a bump. Like C4 they probably need special detonation that can't be triggered accidentally.

6. Did Bruce Wayne have a Bat-Teleporter? How'd he get back into Gotham?

I assume he hit the eject at some point and did his gliding cape deal.

I think the throwing of the badge was a lot less out of place than throwing away the gun... right after its use saved his life.
Was the whole point of him giving up being a cop becaus the other cops followed orders and blew the bridge? I can understand his frustration - but, the position the cops on the bridge left them little choice.

I enjoyed it, although I thought it seemed to take too long to get to the final battle.

Nolan is a true artist, his huge cityscapes are awesome on the big screen. The actors did great, I was pleasantly suprised by how much I liked Hathaway as Catwoman. I liked how the Doctor scene showed how much damage Bruce's body has taken over the years - a detail that really added to the story.

There were times where I couldn't understand what Bane was saying - too much voice sound effects muffled what he was saying.

I also watched Begins and DK on DVD again prior seeing Rises. And I agree that DK is the best of the three. However, I think Begins is my favorite because of the Tumbler chase scenes.

I thought the BAT vehicle was cool for Rises and the Pod also - but I miss the Tumbler.

Overall Nolan did good.

Saw the Batman. Good enough and I won't bore you with what was wrong with it. Better than the first one.
