The Boys (Amazon Prime Video)

Its down for a 5 season run so things will starting wrapping up soon I think.
While season 5 is the end of The Boys tv show, we do know that we are getting another season of Gen V and given that the Boys is probably one of Prime's best shows, they likely wont end it that easily.

The Boys will end with season 5 but Im guessing the "universe" will continue with spinoffs like Gen V and maybe shows focused on specific heroes of characters like they are doing with Walking Dead.

It's ironic that The Walking Dead has turned from a show about zombies...into a zombie show that won't die.

Also zombie-like in that it just wont die despite being a rotting corpse of a show.
I did enjoy the early seasons but the show definitely suffered from fake-out deaths and veering from canon. Also, if rumors are true, also dislike how the showrunners really screwed over some actors with their sudden deaths despite being told otherwise.

Andrea actress Laurie Holden says she was originally contracted by 8 seasons but killed off for shock value.

Carl actor Chandler Riggs said that "if he was written out, it was news to him"

TWD a zombie of a show?

'The Simpsons': Hold my beer.

Anyone talking about the finale of season 4? This season really was a slow burn but I think we are finally in end game with season 5. I do hope the show ends concretely with some actual deaths and story progression although I wouldnt mind a spinoff with side characters to continue to universe.

I just watched the finale the other day. I enjoyed it, and the season - lots of twists and turns. Still, I'm a bit disappointed at Butcher's "turn," though I totally understand it - it's in keeping with his character's motivations. I don't want to get too much into real world politics, but it's really impossible to talk about this show without at least mentioning it. The more overt political stuff - which is the main reason for the review bombing - doesn't bother me, though I think they would've done better to keep things more subtle, and not introduce "real world" references. But, as I mentioned in another post, I think the creators may have felt their message wasn't getting to a lot of people. Even if it was clear to some of us what the show was about from the beginning, some people obviously didn't understand and got offended when the show started making it more clear this season. There were some character developments that irked some people too, some of which I get, but I felt, like with Butcher, they were pretty much in keeping with the characters.

I'm hopeful that the final season won't disappoint. I haven't really gotten into Gen V yet, so I don't know if I really need more stories set in the same universe, but I'm at least open to the idea.

The show is ready to end. I hope the last season is good, this one was a little off in the pacing of the story. Gen V will have to do some recasting or change the story a little bit. One of the leads apparently died in an accident.

Butcher is an anti-hero in the original and I do think the show is going to follow some of the fates of characters like the original comic even though the show has diverted from the original story for a while.

It did seem that the creators were shocked that some fans thought Homelander was the good guy or the show was making fun of liberals so decided to be far more explicit with its parallels to modern life. I agree I did not enjoy it being way too obvious although disagreed with alot of things that took place this season.

A couple quick thoughts here:

For clarification, in the comics, Butcher is an anti-hero who...

...later becomes a full-blown villain.

So I think the show is trying to follow that path.

The show totally makes fun of liberals as well, although not in equal measure. The way they're trying to hit DEI goals in the Vought movies is one example, or Highlander touting progressiveness by pointing out Black Noir as being black and outing Queen Maeve as gay. Although I guess you could say that this isn't weak progressivism (like the parents in the movie "Get Out"), but rather virtue signaling in the sense of "I'm not a racist because some of my friends are black," which is attributed to the Right.

Agree with Butcher. Didnt want to get into too much detail but I do think certain characters will be dying in season 5 (the last season) as a result even if there talks of spinoffs.

I feel the show doesnt really make fun of liberals but more the BS corporations like Disney push to show that they are allies when in reality, they only care about the bottom line or furthering their own image. I thought the Boys did it best when they made fun of corporate actions like the pepsi commercial or the celebrities doing the zoom call singing of Imagine reflecting the actions by Hollywood. Honestly think it could have continued along like this with the current conflict being between hardcore fans of Vought and the rich and powerful against the rest as opposed to this barely veiled allegory to the elections.

This season was okay for me. It had some great gags paralleling the past reality as well as some pretty chilling foreshadowing.

The Boys has been a pretty grim, yet fun way, of poking at a lot of things that apparently people just didn't even get. And I ******* love that.

The only real bummer about the season was that it felt more like a filler season that was just a set up for the final one. There were no real big moments. Even some of the changes involving some of the main characters weren't that exciting, though were good to see.

The final ending scene though was amusing. It was barely a month ago, and I'm no spoiler boy. I'll just say that the look on Homelander's face was precious and I look forward to seeing more of that in S5
