I do remember that now, I had forgotten. Still, the sail barge gun sliced through a Beskar jet pack?
Tbh thats something that kinda really disappointed me when I first saw Mando got his jetpack and it was the same color as the armor.. I was really hoping it was just an aesthetic choice at the time. The jetpacks I always took as being a preexisting tool that wasn't necessarily hard core specific to Mandalorians in use (they just really liked them, and maybe even manufactured some). The Jetpacks are just one of those designs that says a team of people engineered it and manufactured it, and so I always had it in my head there were companies out there in the SW Universe producing jetpacks and such, and maybe they were just a
really expensive, and heavy pieces of equipment that only real professionals like Boba Fett or Military units would utilize.
So in regards to the armor plating for such a system 'In Universe', I'd imagine DuraSteel or the like probably would undoubtedly be the common denominator for Jetpack armor plating given the systems inside its protecting. With the size of that deck canon the guy is haphazardly firing down at the skiff and it taking chunks out of it, along with the other visual preexisting damage to the skiff from, presumably, similar fights of resistance Jabba had to deal with sending people into the pit, I'd say it
totally believable that the large deck canon the guy is firing at the skiff would not only penetrate Bobas jetpack, but cut/pass straight through it and impact on the skiff deck in the trajectory path beyond to the left of Boba just like they seemingly did set up the shot to do (though filmed very poorly). So your average hand held blaster would probably just ricochet off or maybe even dent the jetpack armor, but anything powerful enough to require a sure static mounting to fire, like that deck rail canon, should/would eventually cut through most any protective armor.
Frankly Id expect a large static mounted weapon like that or an E-Web to have been what caused most of Bobas deep dents in his Beskar armor, especially where the hit pattern sorta spreads diagonally up across his armor.
But yeah idk... I guess I just have a
really hard time believing that the Armorer, forced to hide in tunnels for whatever reason even though the New Republic is now in charge, has the actual physical resources and machinery tools available to actually manufacture a Jetpack.. Let alone to do one out of Beskar.. Hammering Armor plating, sure.. Hell maybe even constructing small clamshell system designs like the gauntlets... but a Jetpack???
Not to mention a beskar jetpack just seems
incredibly impractical given how valuable and sought after the metal is (especially when Mando just.. *forgets* it, leaving it on the ground for the plot to happen)
