The Book of Boba Fett

Seriously can you imagine back in 9 cents for oak meal.. I think the organic stuff I buy is 8 bucks now… I have to check next week when I re up
Back then they had those commercials for feeding those poor starving children that you could feed for 25cents a day...now we know how they did it. (not making light of those kids but the costs)

Yeah, I saw the original post, was feverishly typing my reply, but then remembered that the internet is forever and decided not to push the post reply button.
thank you, i thought of it spur of the moment then read the lyrics of the song and was like...uum, someone is going to run with this and it's not really accurate to the character so...off it goes

I don’t understand the conjecture about the female Tusken being Fennec. Why does the female Tusken have to be anybody in particular?

One of the things I disliked most about TROS was the ****-canning of Johnson’s idea that Rey was nobody, and the next super-powerful Force-user could come from anywhere, not just from an existing bloodline. Kind of like “Ratatouille”’s theme of “not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.” I loved that, and it pissed me off that Abrams, Terrio and Kennedy wiped their ass with it.

Just let a great character be a great character in and of themselves. Every new character doesn’t have to be a callback or a connection to a previous character, y’know?
I can think of several more things i disliked about RoS than that. I'm not sure that'd make the top 30.

Still, JJ set her up to be 'someone' in TFA. You don't hide a nobody from nowhere on a backwater place like that if they're a nobody. If they are no one will come looking for them so there's no need to hide them. Sure, RJ added that concept, but no one really believed it because it was said by the bad guy trying to get her to come to his side. JJ simply restored the original intent that she was somebody - though i think he didn't knew who when he set it up.

Where that idea could have been brought forth though was with broom boy returning as a real character and i think JJ did try to bring that aspect back by alluding that Finn thought he had ability at the end.

To each their own, of course. That definitely was one of my Top 3 things I disliked about it.

Abrams was certainly setting up a backstory for her, to be sure. But Palpatine’s clone? And him still alive?

If that was his and Kennedy’s plan from the get-go, then why let Johnson go off in a completely different direction like that? And why not put similar guardrails on Trevorrow when he was writing his IX draft?

And if JJ teed up Rey as “somebody” but he didn’t know who, why let Johnson take the baton and run with it, release his spin as Disney’s #1 tentpole film for the year, and then promptly throw the idea in the trash can?

Pulling Palpatine out of their ass in TROS’ opening crawl was the very definition of ”deus ex machina.” And the claims that “Kylo believed what he was saying about Rey’s parents … at the time” were, IMO, weak, mealy-mouthed retcon B.S. coming from sloppy “moviemaking by committee.”

I liked Johnson’s spin better (clearly), but I think what really pissed me off is how they let him do it and then promptly threw it in the trash can. Because as we know, there was no plan. Supposed to be 3 different directors doing their own thing. Destined to fail that way. I also said I think JJ set it up, but just knew she should be 'somebody', but he had no idea at the time who. Just like during the create of TFA, there was assuredly no plan for palps to show up in pt 9. Otherwise you tease it, which they never did. Part 7 was rife with things for the next guy to use, and the next guy basically clipped everyone one off. There were no plotlines left for 9 other than Kylo has to lose. Everything else was clipped off. If you accept this trilogy could end like ROTS, then, you could have ended it with TLJ.

But this is another thread all together.

On topic, i'll say I was with a number of people before the show aired that I didn't like the black suit fett. After seeing E2, I love the black suit fett knowing where it comes from. The whole thing, the raising of the Tusken lore/history, his inclusion, get the robe, lightaber....i mean gaffi stick, etc :)

Jumping into this thread a bit late, so excuse breaking the flow! :)

Is there a good props/costumes thread about the Book of Bob Fett series on the RPF or would that go through "The Dented Helmet?"

thanks! P.
Dented helmet is the place to go But

Howtoboba.com has amazing reference

Looking forward to Ep3

This has been thrown around the internet, there was a plan. JJ laid it out, and passed the notes onto ruin Johnson.. even Simon pegg leaked some of “the plan” once Johnson threw everything out there went the plan of making sense of anything that happened in TFA

But like you say ep9 was being shot from the hip.. they didn’t have a clue what was going to end up on the cutting room floor..

Agree 100%. They shot themselves in the foot before they even started.

I like the idea of giving different writer-directors free rein to do their own thing, but I don't think the trilogy arc that brings the Skywalker saga to a close was the format to do that. That needed a singular vision for narrative cohesion.

What they are doing with Disney+ is the perfect place for that experimentation.
