The Book of Boba Fett

I know this fett is alittle mismatched with parts but I nearly died in the theater when I saw him

I guess at this point does it really matter what he was doing with his criminal empire? If they explained that (or any of the other plot holes or ridiculousness) in a book, comic or even in Mando season III would that make TBOBF better? I don't think so.
Doesn’t fix anything for me, let it burn, move on to the next one. I already have the gasoline and matches ready

You know, reading the last page, it brought up something I had been thinking about for a while…Why does Fett even care? He refers to Mos Eisley as “his town” and the people are “his,” but why? Because he almost died near by? The Tuskens sure didn’t influence him to live in the city. There’s no real connection between Fett and the planet, generally, and we don’t really see anything that would motivate him to take up this mantle otherwise, specifically for this town.

Legitimately, if we were playing off the existing marshal characters (Cobb and Cara Dune being offered a similar role), and Boba is trying to turn his life around, why focus on Fett wanting to be a crime lord, when becoming Marshal of Tatooine would make more sense? They could still have him do many of these same overarching beats that were featured in the show even, and it would better align with the character’s goals, if that were the case.

It just seems like a weird arbitrary thing for him to do, and given he is telling people that he is a crime lord now, you’d think we would see him do or organize some crime. Instead, he’s effectively became this sheriff persona for the townspeople. I don’t think that’s even a bad thing, but they’ve really centered us around Fett being this bad AF dude, who is going to be a crime boss, and all we see him do is be super nice to animals and stop any crime that he encounters.

Sounds more like a Marshal to me!

Maybe he started with the intention of becoming a crime lord... and shifted to a "peacekeeper" role instead through his experiences? He's obviously NOT on board with the spice trade. Paid protection, sure, but that kind of falls in a Marshall territory to a degree.

Guess we'll have to wait and see how it develops. :)

Yeah my only guess is Tatooine is actually home to Fett and he was far more tied to Jabba and the palace than we ever really thought. In the OT we always see him either with Jabba or acting on his behalf. He’s still at the palace a year after delivering Han when he didn’t necessarily have to be. If that’s the case, I guess that could play some part in why he cares so much, even beyond whatever loyalty he felt for the Tuskens.

I always imagined he was zipping around the galaxy hunting bounties and having adventures but maybe he wasn’t quite as mobile as that.

Ironically I was thinking this morning that a Cobb Vanth show roughly in the same vein as BoBF would’ve made way more sense and probably would’ve been better.

My better half didn’t like this one but I was laughing hysterically - don’t get me wrong, Mark Hamill is awesome as a person and for the craft, but I couldn’t help thinking this is the ‘creepy uncle’ origin story.

edit - bring back Mark for a few projects, because its the right thing to do.

Ha! You said peacekeeper- sorry for crossing the streams, he is no peacekeeper

He’s an insurance agent and offers property protection- except from destruction by Rancors, large droids and Pykes (you have to read the fine print.)

Someone make the "Hi I'm Boba from State Farm" meme quick!

That's one of the things that has bugged me, that they don't ever explain what Boba's angle is. Why all of the sudden does he want to be a crime lord? I would have taken Jabba's palace and any other holdings he had, sell the properties, and retire!

The closest we ever get is him proclaiming he doesn't want to work for idiots anymore. With said idiots usually being of the criminal underworld, I guess that's how he made the leap to wanting to be a crimelord himself? I just never worked for me. Like Mando, my impression of Boba was never that he wanted to be in a position of power or delegating to other people.

“We know a rancor or two because we’ve seen a rancor or two!”

But I agree 100%. If Boba wanted to be a crime lord, he created an issue and drew a ton of attention to himself by killing Bib Fortuna, for some unknown vendetta. Then he quickly found that every single crime family and syndicate was against him. Boba is either a very short planner or an absolute idiot…and based on what his spoken “internal dialogue” to Fennec Shand has been, I’d lean heavily to the later.
