The Book of Boba Fett

What really happened was they painted themselves into a corner by giving Grogu to Luke, execs desperate to undo that because of $ came up with a plan to make sure the wee green guy was back for Mando Series 3

Favreau & Filoni put forward the rough story to Robert Rodrigues that he could do what he wanted with Boba in 5 episodes, the 5th episode he'd have Mando & Grogu back....F&F had a couple of episodes nothing to do with the Boba Series to do the exposition of how Mando got Grogu back

Thats it, the Boba series was just there to undo the plot of Mando Series 2

J
I really hope Groggy Bottom isn't in S3..everything goes very sacarin sweet when he's around..let's see Din back in the Heart of The Action..

He does Always get his Arse kicked and need to be saved..recently by the Groggy Bottom..
Thats a bit of a problem still falling asleep after every battle!

I also kinda feel like F&F were told they had to touch on the sequel trilogy in their own story, and were kind of forced into a corner. They agreed, but only on their terms to make sure Luke was portrayed in a slightly better light.

It's coming off to me like they never wanted Din and Grogu to be parted. From the very beginning it was evident that he could be the next Tarre Vizla.

Was the addition sloppy? Yes. Does it come off like they didn't really want Luke there in the first place? Also yes.

They wanted to get back to a Mandalorian driven storyline as quickly as possible after they reached their quota of Luke. Could have been drawn out a little, but I get where they're coming from. There's also murmurs about a future project that takes place well after the sequels, in which the jedi order is reborn to include attachments...

Wonder who reignites that....

Do we need a map, at the beginning of a series, explaining the 5Ws to non-fans? Gimme a break! (not to you squirk;)).
You want to see a SW series? Educate yourself! If you land smack dab in the middle of such a extensive world/characters, OT, PT, cartoons, etc; you're not going to understand what's the story with such and such character/planet/struggle or anything else for that matter.
It's like seeing Dr. Who, or ST, for the first time and me trying to explain the world you've just entered:mad: I'm 64...too old for that B.S.
They simply didn't respect the initial BF character from ESB/ROTJ, plain and simple! They had to "save the world" (zeitgeist) and make him somebody he's not because, in the end, everybody will sing kumbaya!?
What? He's thinking of retiring and getting his old age pension, mopping around in his sleepers and PJs ? Really people...really:devil:

See, this is an example of what I think was a missed storytelling opportunity.

Suppose the Boba we saw in ESB was still a pro, still top-of-his-game, but growing weary of the BH life. He’s done things and saw things that have caused him to question what’s he’s doing and what he wants to do going forward.

In other words, when we saw him in ESB/ROTJ, he was already on the cusp of making a change, and the Sarlacc event put him over the edge.

I know we got a little bit of that with his campfire recruitment of Fennec into his gotra. But an extra ep, or maybe a few extended flashbacks in the existing eps, could have really made this a much richer and more interesting story.

So this is moot since the show is out and I’m not a writer nor any way involved with Lucasfilm (call me?) but I just wanted to bullet point an outline of what I wish had happened

• Escape the Sarlaac
• Live with the Tuskens for ~5 years
• Rescue Fennec post Mando S1
• Come up against the Pykes as a nomad, train heist etc.
• Notice Cobb/Mando have the armor, steal Slave 1 from Bib and reclaim armor from Mando on Tython
• Tuskens killed by Pykes in Boba’s absence
• Boba returns and takes the crime families to task, kills Bib and the enforcers for the other clans, says anyone that gets in his way or runs spice will die ETC
• Pykes send Cad Bane for palaver, but Boba is defiant and claims he won’t stop until the syndicate is entirely destroyed and gone from Tatooine
• Pykes raze the palace, wounding and capturing Fennec while leaving Boba for dead.
• Boba saved by the dune Tuskens and the warrior woman and child, who take him to Mos Pelgo/Cobb
• Pykes and Bane take up residence at Garsa’s and bleed the townspeople
• Boba and Cobb come to an agreement, help take down the Pykes and the armor is his.
• Boba, the Freetowners, and the dune Tuskens (plus the lady Tusken and kid) ride on Mos Espa
• Battle battle battle yadda yadda
• Boba team wins, Cobb gets the armor, Mos Espa saved

Everything you described it better then what we got on screen

Isn’t it funny how our imagination works

Great summary

I'm convinced the writers intentionally do dumb things with these characters just to see how far they can piss off fans. It's like internet trolls with a massive budget and endless time on their hands. I'm only half serious with this, but I do ask myself this at times when I see something truly stupid. Like what we're they thinking?

harrisonp That sounds pretty rad! The fact that you just threw that together in five minutes shows that it's not impossible or "unrealistic" to come up with a cool story.

Most of my frustrations come from really WANTING to like Boba, to see him grow and learn a new place for himself in the world. He has knowledge and insights about things that should leave us feeling like we’re out of the loop because he’s so well connected to the way the underworld thinks. He absolutely should not be the Everyman audience point of view character as he is in the show.

Psab keel it seems like “show don’t tell” is what they think they’re doing, but all they show us is people standing around or exploding, and that in turn tells us nothing

if there is one thing the people of FREE TOWN should have learned from the Krayt Dragon.......serpentine motions baby....

I'm just saying when your running from a slow moving droid straight down a street. Serpentine motions baby. It's all good, they all want to die as a giant single unit. Take cover in one of the thousand home alley ways all around you? nah just clump up and run right down the middle of the road in a straight line.
This was my biggest gripe. They would cut away and then back to this group running away from the droids AS A GROUP, and IN A STRAIGHT PATH away from the droids, all the while NEVER SCATTERING into the dwellings, businesses, side streets, and alleys that could have provided easy cover.

After the third or fourth cut back to them all just running like that, my suspension of disbelief was trashed.

I feel that perhaps, especially considering how flashbacks were relied upon pretty heavily in the first three episodes, we should have seen some of Boba “before the pit”. Really get an idea of how ruthless he’d become to demonstrate why he wanted a change. Juxtaposition, as it were.

Also, maybe he would have seemed more like Boba if he were wearing the actual outfit. Heck, even the ROTJ. (ESB is better, not taking any questions today.)

If we win, we win together. If we die, we die together!

I just feel like this needs to come back in a BIG way...... Maybe even in the writer's room. LOL

I don't think the BF of ESB is different than the one in ROTJ...too close in terms of time-line IMO. But again...why the doubt? Why the questioning?
Accept your faith and role in this world and die with your boots on! The minute you're asking yourself questions about your destiny; that's the time to pack everything and tell your tales, around a fire, to your friends the Sand people...you know, to keep the legend alive.
Besides that, I don't see any redeeming parts about spilling your guts to your local shrink...The Galaxy is populated with a lot of nasty characters and the only way to survive is to be as nasty/nastier than them. That's why he's a BH!! That's why he was selected by no other than DARTH VADER FOR HEAVEN SAKE'S to go after the main actors of the Rebellion! And he succeeded... and was bold enough to go toe-to-toe with Darth in his negotiations concerning the faith of his bounty. Now, that takes cojones and steel B!!
