I've been toying with this for years. Close to 10 years to be honest. Back around 2000, a RPF member sent me a B5 Assassin pistol reportedly from the actual prop that had been recast many times until it was considerably undersized. My intention then was to use a machine shop I had access to back when I was working at a chemical plant and build one out of metal. Unfortunately within months of me receiving it, the company went bankrupt and shut down. Needless to say I never followed through on it other than working on a 3d model and picking up the correct Pachmayr grip. Anyway, I recently found that 3d model and have re-worked it some. It's not totally accurate and still needs refining but I'm once again thinking of working on a 1:1 scale version. I still have the old undersized piece and have had it to go by but I've cleaned it up some in the 3d version.
Now to my need of pics. Unlike the B5 standard PPG, the Crusade and the Assassin versions grips aren't cut through by the frame. It wraps around and I need a shot of the Crusade piece with the grip off so I can see how the frame is shaped. Currently I'm still toying with the idea of making it in metal, only with out access to a mill, it would have to be done by hand. My intention is to use the 3d model to break it down into smaller, workable parts that will fit together like a puzzle. Possibly with a way to break it down similar to the assassin theme. Although, the latter might be too much work so it's not set in stone. I'll probably work on it in wood/styrene to start with, then go from there.
Here's the 3d model. Ignore the lower grip as it's just something I threw in as a placeholder. Also there's all the small detail I haven't done yet. Screws, etc.
Any help on references would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Kevin
