TGG's 1:1 Life Size Heath Ledger TDK Joker WIP

Re: 1:1 Heath Joker WIP

This particular sculpt is based loosely on this promotional pic:

I started by removing the wig:

After comparing reference shots, I found the face to be a tad too thin. I used Apoxie Sculpt to bring out the cheeks, and also to build out the top lip a bit.

I then painted the entire bust normal skin tone:

When I finished, I cut up my Rubies' wig and slowly glued the hair layer by layer with a hot glue gun:

I started with the white paint, but unlike before (I painted a pretty much white face white, I allowed the skin-tone to show through the white. Thus, I didn't just pile on the white, but instead blotted it carefully to match the image (and how Joker appears in the pencil trick scene)

I then worked on the lips and eyes:

And he started to come to life:

Yep. The wig isn't all bad. Its just put together incorrectly if that makes sense. You can really see you took the time to get it right...well done.

That is an exceptional improvement!! You resculpted the width pefectly!

Truthfully it simply looked wrong before. Now it looks bang on heath.

Glass eyes and tone down the teeth slightly, and it will be perfect :)

Thanks for your comments W!

I received a lot of feedback that the teeth are too yellow, so I will be taking that advice. I tried my best to copy that pic above where they look yellow.

Your also right about the eyes, I was a little too chicken to cut them out. :lol

Worked on his makeup a bit more. Here is a test shot:

I also plan on adding product to his hair to make it nice and curly/greasy.

I have since ever so slightly softened the bottom black of the eyes where it meets the white so the contrast isn't so stark.

Your Joker bust is a huge improvement with the upgrade on hair & paint.

If it was mine I would do a few light black washes in areas to give the make up a slightly more dirty look.
I would also paint the inside of the mouth with more red/pink tones instead of what looks like black so that the teeth do not stand out too much.

Great work so far.:thumbsup

Thanks for the suggestions MB!!! I will def. work on the mouth! Your right about the griminess, been trying to figure out how to do it better.

Hi there,

You can use a small piece of sponge rubber to touch up around the eyes, tone the black a bit down on the edges and it's also good to smear the lipstick a bit around his mouth and chin.

Thanks Chaim, you're right about the black, need to soften it up a bit at the bottom.

I know my Joker doesn't light a candle to Rich's or Bobby's, but it's still fun.
