TFA Graflex Research (That's a Graflex, right? Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

No way. These new T-tracks are taller than all of the ones mentioned.

I just saw the close up pic of Finns pocket...

These are all new. Close in width to the original. But unless my eyes are playing tricks, the "fins" that stick out are taller and/or skinnier...

I have like 4 sets of "close to" t-track... Those aren't Saberfreak or Gino.

I agree. You can tell that those fins are very tall and hardly tapered, unlike the OT T-tracks (and mine)

Agree, they seem to almost reach the height of the top portion of the sidebars, mine are about 3/4 of that height.

Who's circuit board is that!!! It looks just like Roy's!!!

I wonder if it´s rounded or square.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

They look like blastech to me.

Does it look to anyone else like he also has the hilt in his pocket(strap thing that he is seen carrying the saber in) in this pic? It almost looks like grips and rivets in the background.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

Nevermind. Looked at the full pic again. Not possible based on how he is holding it.

judging by chains black and white photo it sure looks like circle to me

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

Well I took the liberty of taking that one T-track a bit further into the clamps with Photoshop ... so we can exactly determine how high they reach in accordance with the G R A F L E X sidebars :

The activation board does seem to have rounded golden fingers ... so it could also be one of slothfurnace his early boards or a still a real vintage, since they were so keen on only getting real vintage parts, ... and if the propsdepartment can source real G R A F L E X and MPP's online, with a little aid, they certainly can find vintage boards, like mine :

Can we agree on that the hero has plain rivets, whereas the stunt may have rusty hex screws?

I don't think you can differentiate a rivet from a hex screw from a distance.

im no expert, but when building the race cars my main job (because no one else can stand the repetition) is riveting 2400 rivets into the chassis, making foot boxes, inner door skins, complete trunk decks, fender wells... ALLOT of rivets. i see a rivet in the black and white photo. the heads are much flatter then a button hex head we see on the "stunt" but this is just what i see

more rivets

though i work allot with rivets, remember i just stated i saw a bottom end of a graflex up fins sleeve :facepalm

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

I do agree those look more like rivets than a button hex screw :) and I was only teasing a bit. The hex screws of the stunt does look more domed and seem to have a larger hole in the center.

One detail I noticed about the stunt - the black cap on the bottom has a lip on it that matches the diameter of the hilt, while it's skinnier above that. It looks as if it's a battery compartment/module that's supposed to sit further up into the hilt, but is hanging out partway. Maybe it was sticking out only for this shoot, and that's why there's not a black section below the grips on the promo artwork?

exactly, to me it even looks like the threads on the black cap as visible. I think this explains when in the forest scene we don't see the black cap out as much.

I'm just amazed that while handling the prop the actors don't pick up on it? maybe just maybe they had to change to a different battery, a bigger one and now the cap isn't allowed to be screwed in all the way because of the new size

I just can't wrap my mind around it that they don't realize the prop has changed and not fixit for he photo shoot..

...sigh

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

I think the endcap and plug are a modification Finn/Rey makes to the Graflex in the movie.

If they needed to add practical illumination to the blade, lord knows they wouldn't make it so obvious.

I can't see them leaving it visible in practically every promo shot AND in the Instagram teaser.
