TFA Graflex Research (That's a Graflex, right? Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

There seems to be an added black metal piece where you'd normally find the G R A F L E X text on the bottom . . . so for this stunt version of still a real G R A F L E X they removed the bottom plate entirely :wacko ... and the trs-pins are removed as well!!! Could they have used some blue high power fx leds in the emitter, i.e. the same as you can purchase from the custom saber shop, to get the blue glow of the lightsaber on the actors face?

Maybe, BUT when I take the pins out of my Graflex there still is black plastic beneath and not just holes in a recessed metal circle.
I don't think/ hope they used a real Graflex for this stunt saber. They wouldn't do this, would they :wacko
I think they could have used a metal tube with T-tracks and inserted some black tube with electronics which slipped some millimeters out on the bottom of the tube?

Some interactive lighting can be done via CG but that only goes so far. The custom saber maker in me really hopes that they used light-up polycarbonate blades for the nighttime snow face-off as that would be AWESOME!

Exactly what I thought when we first noticed the short grips and weird thing coming out the bottom in the snow Forrest picture

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

Could be that pin in the back a cable not entirely edited in the image ???

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

Took these pics of a store display, looks like a machined stunt.

nice try.... but that glare couldn't have been in a worse spot for us to nerd out over! Lol... dammit... so close.

I saw a Chewie one and got great pics of the blaster up close, but haven't seen the finn one.

That's also not the original graflex bulb socket insides... that looks like a milled/machined FX piece.

Yes it could ... I suspect the prop guys would use other methodes of lighting a stunt saber on set, than what we fans use for our force fx sabers :)

You guys aren't even noticing the paint scraped off of the METAL T TRACKS

I took some close ups of the scopes on the Chewie Bowcaster (from a full size cardboard standin at Target). They all appear fake to me, due to sizing issues between the three scopes.

These look like hex screws to me too...wonder if that just goes for the stunt or for all the Graflexes? The notches in the T Tracks appear smaller too.

Also, I did see both a Poe and a Finn 3.75" figure for sale and neither came with the Graflex saber.

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

the cap looks threaded in the display pic and yepp, the grips could be metal they have grey scrapes like aluminum the rust I think comes from the hex screws, something in the back looks like a switch also I almost see a cable plug....

That's wishful thinking ... since they had 7 G R A F L E X flashguns at their disposal ... the propmakers most certainly would use them for stunts and whatever was needed for the scene :wacko

Well . . . if they are metal . . . I'm glad I still have some anodised black metal T-tracks unused in my stash . . . though I highly doubt they are metal considering the extra time it would take to make those inserts for those rivets/hex caps ... then again the prop-guys would have all kinds of heavy machinery at their disposal too, wouldn't they? :wacko

Alu T-Tracks ? how do you attach it ? are ESB or ANH ? (I´m making a set)

Sure, they could afford those....

Re: That's a Graflex, right (Force Awakens teaser trailer #2)?

My metal ANH T-tracks have a smooth curve underneath, which corresponds well with the curvature of a G R A F L E X :) ... just remember for ANH and ESB plastic T-tracks were used! Now I've read somewhere on another forum that a member called CT was given the job to create the weapons for TFA, so I suspect that since he knows about all these threads of rivets vs hex caps vs x-screws and plastic vs metal T-tracks . . . he could just be pulling our legs . . . or better said our precious lightsaber props :wacko

Yepp Chaim, it is going to be a non accurate replica but I just wanted an all metal grip since it is easier to me working with Alu than plastic...If I take the plastic path Im sourceing it from you know who...;)

Back to the topic.... I´m still thinking that that stunt saber is narrower than a Graflex
