Terran Trade Authority Alphan ACM 128 Stingray

That is simply beautiful.
I hadn't realized until I saw your Avery Hornet, how big an influence the TTA book series had made on my 10 year old mind in 1979.
Man.... that has to be a total rush watching it come to life, when your painting it.
I love it,
Clint

Thanks y'all. Glad I could bring up good memories. Doing the detailing is great fun. Some of the most interesting bits are the parts you can't see in the original art work.

You might note that in the original artwork the engine is just a blob of light. I spent considerable time installing greeblies in that space to add interest to the model.

Lovely :)

I have the first TTA book and three similar 'knock-off' books.

Before 2000, it was fun to imagine that my book was actually from the future...

...I liked the mystery ships in the back...

What's your next project?

Cool stuff! I remember as a kid loving the wacky color schemes of these ships, then as a teenager, thinking they were over the top and a little silly, but now as an adault, I've come back around. These things indeed are awesome.

Hell, you did it again. Great build and paint up, Colin Hay really did Chris Foss justice, didn't he. And thanks for bring back some great memories,

that's some great paintwork on that model.i had all those books as a kid and passed them on to my kids.the books are now long gone and this is bringin back some nice memories.my favourite was the spacewreck book.of course i kept all my foss books.always wanted to build models of these unusual designs.great to see you you've done a couple already.:thumbsup

Thanks mofo. I am very pleased that everyone has such fond memories of these books and the artwork in them. I am also very happy that everyone seems to think I did justice to the models. I hope the K13 Shark turns out as well as the other 2.

Man, I didn't know that anyone had these books anymore. I have the Spacecraft 2000 to 2100 and Great Space Battles books. I have also been thinking about building a few of the ships but at the moment, my scratch building skills ar zip.

Beautiful ship. Two thumbs up.

Thanks Noumcea. Hey scratch building is just like any other skill. It takes practice, mostly to learn what not to do. It took me bout 35 years of model building and kitbashing before I felt confident enough to attempt these builds.

Great stuff! Fantastic build and excellent paintjob.

Of course, the artists in those books were commissioned by editors to rip off Chris Foss, the originator of the style. It's high time we saw some faithful models of his designs! I myself am tempted to have a go at this one from 1975. Note the upper module - either this was totally ripped off by Lucasfilm for the star destroyer hull, or great minds think alike...
