Terminator T2 Arnold Chest Cavity Prosthetic Sculpt

That's looking great, my only gripe with it is that the flesh doesn't look torn it just looks like it's been jabbed at with a clay tool.

Hi there

Bit of an update. Starting to take shape now. Added more shreds of flesh to make it look random rather than a 'ridge' around the endo reveal.

Cheers, Steve :)

Man that sculpt is just frickin wicked dude! Can't wait to see the piece displayed!

Looking MUCH better!

Here's the way I see it (sorry for continuing to hound on it!)...

Where the new "fingers" of flesh meet with the overall perimeter of the open wound area, I'd round them out/blend them in a bit more so they look a bit more natural, and a bit less added in.

I'd add a few "islands" or blobs of flesh, not connected to the main body but just "out there" on the chrome.

And the wall, where the skin stops, and the torn flesh drops down to the chrome, is way too 90-degree. The upper oval, where it is sloped more looks PERFECT! Slope ALL of it; maybe not quite so gradual a slope, but definitely knock back that 90-degree "canyon rim" look.

Okay guys. Thanks for the feedback. I'll take it on board and post more pics soon when I've altered it.

Cheers, Steve :)

Bear in mind these are just my own personal observations.

Two things to remember with prop replicating:
1. We all interpret the original source material a little differently
2. Our own tastes are our own tastes

Just because one nutjob has some nitpicks, that doesn't necessarily mean the item is good, bad, or indifferent. It just reflects that one nutob's opinion!

In the end, you go with what you feel is best! :)

Hi there

Thanks for clarifying that. It's good to take peoples opinions on board and that was the reason for starting the thread. But ultimately, this thing is ending up on my Arnie and I have to feel it looks right.

Some good points raised though and I'll bear them in mind. However, I have just seen the one sculpted by a certain other member a while back :)thumbsup) and it makes me want to give up! :lol or at least start again.

Ho hum. Cheers, Steve

If the certain member is the one I'm most certain it is, I've worked side by side with him (and am proud to call him a friend), on more than one shared project project. And I can assure you it is difficult not to be intimidated! :) Bear in mind he is a professional artist by trade!

Use other's work as an inspiration and a motivator. I did with the X-Wing model I recently finished over at the Studio Scale forum. Seeing some of the work over there on the same subject matter, I was literally procrastinating on doing the finish paint work since I was fearing I wouldn't be in the same league.

I did use another member's work as both reference and inspiration. And here is the key... In the end, mine is not better, or worse. What it IS is different. Different in approach, different in style. And though not better or worse, I like mine better because its mine! ;)

Sculpting is the "Final Fronteir" for me - one of the last (if not the last) skill I have NO experience in. While it's easy to offer constructive criticsm, and play armchair quarterback, there is no way I could match your talent in sculpting!

I dont know if its relavant to the reference you are working from, but the Planet Hollywood T2 looks chunkier and deeper. But its also not the prosthetic version so I dont know.

This thing was problably the coolest prop I have seen in person. Its like standing next to Arnold himself because its so real looking.

Thanks for the kind words PHArchivist. I'll go with what I feel I suppose. Oh and it is the member you suspect it is. His talent is incredible!

Wow DavyJones, what an ace PH chest shot. It is very different to the screen used isn't it. Very chunky. Do you have anymore shots as reference?

I did start this with the intention of replicating the PH chest so they would be very helpful.

Thanks
Steve

I have a couple photos. Nothing that would count as very good reference I'm afraid. Just these fuzzy pictures. I know very little about Terminator props (although I love the movies) but I dont think this is a prosthetic part. If I remember; the plaque says it was the full sized puppet used in T2. Problably not true but again I have no idea...

Hope these help;

I was too wowed by standing next to it because its creepy real and the next best thing to meeting Arnold in person.:)

Oh my lordy! :eek What an excellent couple of photos. Particularly the one from straight on showing part of the chest. This will be most helpful in my mods.

Thank you so much!

Steve

Hi guys

Just wanted to say thanks for all the input. Anyway, had some rare spare time today so I thought I would finish this off. Your feedback has been very helpful indeed and I feel I have achieved what I originally set out to do.

Hope you like the shots. I think I'll prepare this for moulding tomorrow as this is my master. Any questions, just PM me.

Cheers, Steve
