Terminator T-800 CPU Receptacle

Re: Terminator T-800 CPU Receptacle from Deleted Scene in T2

Have you seen that walk around "Docking Bay 94" from Star Wars? It was all done in the free version of SU.
I have not but there's a bunch of crazy things I've seen modeled.

My model above is just 40mm long and could be laser cut from 1mm plastic, then layered up. The thickness needs re-working as the scaling the legth and width changed that.

My "prototype chip" model was originally a single piece, then cut into layers, but as mentioned became too big to be practical. Each cube was to be 100mm and the pipe between each cube was about 35mm dia.

What I wanted to do was make the two outer parts (one buck) and two inner parts (2nd buck), then glue the halves together. So each of the pipes joining the cubes would be a part of the main Vac pull. If heat (my heater gets smoking hot) and suction (I now have a vacuum pump and chamber) was sufficient, the plastic should form well, though wall thickness would be reduced greatly on the sides.

The reason I didn't continue with the project was size where I needed to keep the unit under 550mm long. This would mean reducing the size of each cube to somewhere between 50mm and 75mm. I looked at breaking the model in to smaller parts, but I lost interest.
Sounds like it would work although for sure it's a great deal of work. I guess any which way you approach it, it's still a lot of work. I have the production chips on display and believe still have part masters somewhere in storage.

Can you pretty please (with sugar on that) post images or provide links. That prop is still one of the coolest things in that movie.

It's been a habit of mine that I don't take pics, keep molds, or even masters. I 'believe' I may still have some pieces but I really need to look. I will eventually make another.

Really? Why not? If I worked in that industry, I'd have a reference library of all the cool stuff I've made. How do you keep a resume?

^ My work in the past was in most cases one-offs.

Well, can start building one right now ;)

These are samples of the partial redesign of the core opening. The details are really really small... but I will further modify and layer them a bit once I get them.

My thanks to Phil Wise for the cuts :cool

These are going to be off the charts !!! Endoskeleton , you have an awesome vision on how these should be , I love seeing your updates with these, and , if these are ever offered , I would be honored sir, to have a part of your design ,it would be be a perfect collectors piece for every Terminator collectors....phenominal work Big E......(y)cool:thumbsup

Re: Terminator T-800 CPU Receptacle from Deleted Scene in T2

^ Much thanks for the kind words, Guy!

As you can probably tell, the details of the core opening are not cannon. The original design was very loose and broken. But I wanted the design to be more 'complete'... so I ultimately decided on making it different. My design is actually a bit more intricate than the original and loosely based on the pre-production design and drawings.

The rest of the prop is pretty much screen accurate.

I should be receiving the cut parts from Phil sometime next week. I'll make some tweaks to it and the whole thing will be good to go. I'll have them in the JY when they are. Thanks!

Received the etched acrylic pieces in the mail this morning :) I only needed one but Phil made some extras with the design mirrored and etches in different depths. I took an imprint of one of 'em to make the core opening.

The inside of the housing needs to be super refined because of the tight tolerances. Something I will take care of over the next few days... so a little bit behind schedule with this piece.

Guy, what full size fuel cell? If you mean the ones that go inside the Endo chest, those were done up most proper by Brundlefly already.
