Terminator Salvation T600 Endoskull Voice Changer Mod's

Well I finally managed to get my hands on one of the Terminator Salvation T600 voice changer (or "voice 'n' vision" as Playmate call it) masks with the intent of modding it to hopefully turn it into a more accurate T600 Endoskull replica so I thought I'd start a thread to document it, or indeed anyone else's efforts and ideas with this Endoskull build.

and with the eyes lit. Quite effective and it really does hide your eyes using a couple of lights over the eye reflected through a 45 degree plastic lens. Pity it has to go:lol!

First impressions are of just how large it is, width 180 mm (7"), Height 290mm (11.5 ") and depth 220mm (8.25") thats from the jawline to the back of the mask not including the straps. I know it's going to be bigger than the T800 Endoskull but this will be slightly over scale when it's done I think.

Main areas of work as I see it right now are that obviously the jaw is way too small and that the eye's will need to be completely rebuilt , plus it needs a back to the skull, so only a small amount of work really :lol, I think it will be a fun project though which is why I'm going to give it a try.

Look out for updates.

I was really debating on doing this until I saw what Sideshow was releasing... I'll be watching this thread with great interest

It actually looks a LOT better in your photos than in any pics I've seen online so far.

Where did you pick this up in the UK?

I dont see why they couldn't make the top of the head smaller, and the bottom of the face longer?? :confused

Me too, :lol!

Thanks, I have to admit it photographed way better than I expected and I agree with you all I originally had to go by were the "strange" looking shots online too. It does look better in person though, it's just as I said earlier "big", however I think (for me at any rate ) in this case that will work in it's favour!

Where did you find one?
Price?
I bought this one in a local Toyshop (Toymaster) so I would think they will be fairly widely available, predictably It cost £34.95. As an aside on this I also saw a Hasblo Transformers "Bumblebee" voice changer today at exactly the same price so it seems they're all getting on the bandwagon.

Not sure on that one, guess they decided that there was a need for more head room so they made the top of the head larger to fit all comers in the size dept. it is quite comfortable for sure. I think if the jaw were longer then it would be almost down on to an adult chest let alone the kiddies they are aimed at.

As I said it is going to need a fair bit of re-working to get something that is more correct to the original T600 but I'm looking forward to the fun in doing it.

I dont know if you're already past this part, but what is it made of and what are you willing to do? If it's a vinyl thing, it is slightly flexible, so with whatever your using to modify it make sure the adhesives/epoxies stick and/or are flexible.

Although, I would say that is an excellent base to sculpt onto fully. cut out the jaw, remove the teeth, sand away a bit of the overall surface for the clay to grip to and have at it. That way all the things you modify can be seamless, and you have an armature that you can use as a reference guide.

Again, not sure if you wanted it still for wear, or as a prop head only.

Thanks for the help Tyler most appreciated :thumbsup.

Actually I'm fairly sure the mask is styrene (haven't tried any cutting yet to be completely sure) which is pretty easy to work. I guess what I intend would be regarded as more of a re-build than a re-sculpt. I'm really just interested in re-working the T600 as a prop head so it doesn't have to have space for a noggin in it, that should help with re-building things like the jaw for instance. Anyhoo I'm going to have an play in Photoshop with the images I took before I start any "real" cutting, just to work out exactly what I'm going to do and more importantly what really needs to be chopped out to start with. :eek

This thread made me get the T600 Endoskull Voice Changer. I look forward to your progress on this project.

Good to hear Oneye (y)thumbsup

Right now I'm working on finishing up another project, but the T600 noggin is next in line. In the meantime I have it sitting next to my workbench and I've started some disassembly while trying to work out what parts I want to cut off, it's going to be fun for sure.

Yes that would be easier, but as far as I can work out from the shots I've seen on the net the T600 Endoskull shown in the Amazon image is the pre-pro for the voice changer I have already. It seems they re-worked the eye's and the jaw etc. between the one and the other but some sites are still using the pre-pro image for advertising.

I may be wrong on this but it's what the evidence I have seen so far points to.

I'm 100% sure you already know this, but remember the t600 was oversized to begin with.

I saw these voice changer masks at kmart and walmart locally and thought they looked pretty impressive for what they are. I'll be checking my local Grandview Outlet here to see if they get any (they get discontinued, returned or defective merch from Target stores and other retailers then sell it at around 1/4 the original price).

Just to be helpful, I downloaded then uploaded these pictures of the making of the T-600 bust from Sideshow. I don't have much talent, so I help where I can. :)

Thanks for that Oneye. :thumbsup

I always work from the premise that you can never have too many references, so anything like this is most welcome! :thumbsup
