So today i has free time and started making the mother mold for the helmet. I ran out of Plasticine and will get some next week. i will then fiberglass over the top. Once the fiberglass is dry i will remove it and remove the Plasticine then place the mother mold over the helmet and pour the silicone in.
So i got a chance today after picking up the fiberglass to put the first layer on this arvo. I will wait for it to dry then put a second coat on then it is only to clean out and getting ready to pour the silicone
So i got the second layer of fiberglass on the mother mold today i will leave it 24 hours then separate the mold and remove the Plasticine and get it ready for the silicone pour.
So i got some time in-between projects to crack open the mother mold. I have cleaned 98% of the Plasticine and will finish the rest tomorrow. i noticed there is three spots where the fiberglass didn't cover. they aren't big and will give the out side a patch job and another coat of resin for strength. I will then prep it all for the silicone pour when my supplier gets more in stock.
So my silicone supplier got back in touch with me last night and said he could do a deal for me. He would sell he this at a discounted price and said it should be at my place by Monday. So i jumped on it and now the wait till it comes in starts.
So the silicone arrived today and i started the pour process. It turns out some where along the line i mucked up the calculations. i ended up been a little bit short.......oh well i will order the rest now and it should be here by the end of the week.
So i finally got the next installment of oomoo 30 today and finished off the helmet mold and a little bit of the ear. I just have to wait 6 hours before i can pop the helmet mold open and have a look at it. I will let you know how it looks when i open it.
So i went to cut out the visor and clean up the edges with my dremel today and found my dremel is dead. i have to go to the shop tomorrow and get a new one. then i can do some more work on the helmet.
So i busted out the new dremel today and did some work on the visor and the edges. it is starting to look great and i cant wait to get some paint on it.
